Skin Rejuvenation – What Works?

skin rejuvenation Cheshire

At Cheshire Lasers, we provide many treatments for Skin Rejuvenation.

You can achieve brighter, younger skin using chemical or physical agents to increase the skin’s cell turnover, stimulate collagen production, reduce lines and wrinkles and even skin tone.

Cheshire Lasers Clinic provides a variety of rejuvenation treatments to suit different skin types and skin concerns; for optimum results, you may need a combination of treatments.

There are so many for you to choose from:

Radiofrequency Skin Tightening

Radiofrequency technology stimulates collagen, reducing fine lines and wrinkles and reducing the saggy appearance of skin. It, therefore, tightens plumps and brightens skin.
Cheshire Lasers has two Radiofrequency devices, Thermaclinic, which is excellent for treating eyes, upper lips and full faces. Endymed works deeper and is the best for treating the cheeks and neck area.

Radiofrequency Microneedling

Radiofrequency (RF) Microneedling uses the most advanced technology to improve skin texture and tone and promote collagen growth to deliver plump, healthy, firmer-looking skin. It is excellent for improving ageing skin and scars but also has an impressive lifting-tightening effect. It works well all over the face, including the fine lines around the mouth and eyes.

CACI Microcurrent

CACI microcurrent treatments are “the original non-surgical facelift”. They involve the use of applying tiny microcurrents to re-educates your muscles. The treatments lift sagging muscles; tone and tighten; improve the colour and texture of the skin; stimulate collagen production, and help delay the ageing process.

Microneedling

Microneedling is an excellent treatment for skin tightening, reducing lines and wrinkles, reducing pore size, reducing scars and general skin rejuvenation.
At Cheshire Lasers, our specialists use two electronic needle devices for skin rejuvenation. They deliver less painful treatments with less downtime than the usual Dermaroller treatments.

Microdermabrasion

This medical-grade treatment removes the entire stratum corneum and helps reduce the superficial signs of ageing. In addition, repeated microdermabrasion treatments at regular intervals may influence how the lower layers of skin grow and remove deeper blemishes over time.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a manual exfoliation treatment that brightens the skin to give an instant glow. A  sterile scalpel is used to gently and safely remove dead skin cells from the top layer of your skin (epidermis). It leaves the skin more receptive to serums and moisturisers. It also increases cell renewal and collagen and elastin production, delivering a more youthful and rejuvenated complexion.
This treatment removes the vellus hair (peach fuzz) on the skin’s surface. The result is silky smooth skin so that you can apply makeup flawlessly.

Laser Skin Rejuvenation

Using the Intense Pulsed Light system, we can reduce signs of ageing caused by sun damage. For example, we can reduce or even remove blemishes such as brown spots (pigmentation) and redness (thread veins).

Ultraformer MF2 Wrinkle treatment

Sensitive areas around the eye, mouth and forehead can be easily treated with ultrasound technology. In addition; the newly developed MF2 Ultraformer Treatment stimulates collagen to reduce fine lines and wrinkles in these areas.

Chemical Peels

Our aesthetic technicians can perform a variety of peels, including BioRepeel,  ZO Peels and Obagi Blue Radiance Peels. Aesthetic nurse Moira performs the Perfect Peel for people who want to peel much deeper. Dr Kyra Drinnan performs the pHformula TCA Touch peel.

Dermalux LED Therapy

At Cheshire Lasers, we have the Dermalux LED skin rejuvenation treatment in red, infrared and blue. This allows us to treat you with 2 or 3 lights simultaneously. The red and infrared lights are great for anti-ageing and skin rejuvenation. TBluelight is excellent for reducing oily skin and bacteria in acne sufferers.

Profhilo

Profhilo is an injectable treatment which stimulates collagen and elastin in the top layers of the skin. After a course of treatments, the skin becomes plumper and more hydrated, and it can even bring about some lifting and firming of the skin.

The Hydrafacial

The “HydraFacial” combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration and antioxidant protection simultaneously. This hydrafacial delivers clearer, more beautiful skin with no discomfort or downtime. The treatment is soothing, moisturising, non-invasive and non-irritating.

Injectable Collagen Stimulators

Using Injectable Collagen Stimulators like Sculptra, Ellanse and Harmonica.  Your skin can appear more firmer, tighter and hydrated, and they can also add volume for a lifting effect.

Injectable Skin Boosters

Using injectable skin-boosting ingredients such as Profhilo, Polynucleotides like Nucleophil, PRP and Restylane Vital. Your skin can appear more hydrated, plump and fresh after a course of treatments.

ZO Skin Health

Our amazing ZO Skin Health Products can rejuvenate the skin from the outside in.

Botox Treatment for Migraine

Botox for chronic migraine
BOTOX® is licensed for the treatment of chronic migraine. You are considered to have chronic migraine if you have experienced 15 headaches per month over a three month period, of which at least eight days have migraine features, including; nausea, light or noise sensitivity, pulsating or lateralised pain and lasting hours or more in duration.

How does Botox work for migraine?
It is thought that Botulinum Toxin (Botox) gets into the small nerves that carry pain from the head to the brain, known as C-fibres. This reduces the amount of chemicals released from the nerve ending and therefore interrupts the feedback pathway that perpetuates migraine and headache.

How is Botox given for migraine?
BOTOX ® is given as a series of 31 to 39 tiny injections under the skin or into the muscles in and around the head, the forehead, above the ears, and into the neck and shoulders. The injections are repeated every 12 weeks until the patient no longer has chronic migraine, or until it is clear that treatment is not working.

How effective is Botox for migraine?
The goal is not to become completely free of headache or migraine, but to improve quality of life and to convert migraine from chronic to episodic. Studies show that 47% of patients had a 50% or greater reduction in the number of days with headache.
Response is usually seen after the first or second set of injections. One in four people respond well to the first or second set of injections, and half need more than two sets of injections to get a good response.
The biological effect of Botox on nerves takes several days or a few weeks to work. You should not expect chronic migraine to improve properly in less than 4 weeks. Some patients do not start to improve until after their second set of injections which is given 12 weeks after the first set of injections.
Around 1 in 4 patients do not respond to the injections at all and only 1 in 10 people respond to a third set of injections if the first two sets of injections fail.

Who can’t have Botox for migraine?

  • Botox is only for chronic migraine, not any other sort of migraine.
  • People who are pregnant or breastfeeding are unable to have Botox.
  • If you have other neurological disease, for example Bell’s palsy, a neuropathy, or Myasthenia Gravis, the risks of Botox are increased.
  • If you have recently (within the last 3 months) had cosmetic Botox then the side effects could be increased.

Tell your Practitioner if you:

  • You are affected by injections (eg. fainting) in the past.
  • Experienced problems with previous Botox injections.
  • Have inflammation, weakness or wasting of the muscles/skin where your doctor plans to inject.
  • Have had problems with swallowing or if food/liquid has accidentally gone into your lungs, especially if you will be treated for persistent muscle spasms in the neck and shoulders.
  • Suffer from any other muscle problems or chronic diseases affecting your muscles.
  • Suffer from certain diseases affecting your nervous system.
  • Have an eye disease called closed-angle glaucoma or were told you were at risk of developing this type of glaucoma.
  • Have had any surgery that may have changed the muscle that is being injected.
  • Are due to have an operation soon.
  • Are taking any blood thinning medicine.

What are the side effects from using Botox for migraine?

  • The injections are slightly prickly or stingy and take about five minutes to complete.
  • It is possible, though rare, to have an acute allergic response so you should stay in the clinic for several minutes after the first set of injections.

Less than 1 in 10 patients experience each of the following side effects:

  • Worsening migraine. This can begin within a day or two of the injections, usually lasts a small number of days. It can be treated with your usual pain killers.
  • Rash, itching
  • As with all injections; pain, bruising, bleeding or infection where the injection was given are a possibility.
  • Drooping of eyebrows or eye lids. This begins after a couple or a few weeks and can last for a small number of weeks.
  • Muscle weakness, pain, cramp, stiffness or tightness.
  • Weakness and pain in the neck. This begins after a couple or a few weeks and can last for a small number of weeks. It can be treated with regular anti-inflammatory tablets.

Less than 1 in 100 may experience:

  • Difficulty in swallowing
  • Skin pain
  • Jaw pain
  • Swollen eyelid

How can you get Botox treatment for chronic migraine?
You do not need a GP referral, you can self-refer to see an Aesthetic Practitioner. The Practitioner must have had advanced training to treat migraines. If you book in for a consultation your Practitioner will discuss your medical history to assess if this is an appropriate treatment for you.

How much does Botox for migraine cost?
A full Allergan Botox treatment as licensed and recommended by NICE involves injecting 155 units over 31 sites and costs £550 per set of injections. This treatment is performed by Aesthetic Nurse Moira Grobiki.

Can migraine be treated with regular Aesthetic Botox?
It is now recognised that patients can achieve migraine and headache improvement from treating the frown and the forehead using Aesthetic Botox. This involves less injections and less units of Botox and is therefore a lower price; however it may not be as affective and it is not a licensed treatment for migraine.

Agera Chemical Peels

Agera Peels are performed by Senior Aesthetician Kate at Cheshire Lasers.

Agera is derived from the ancient Greek word ageratos meaning “not to age”.

Whats is special about Agera?

Agera Rx is a comprehensive range of active skin care products including anti-ageing, anti-pigmentary and acne treatments that work together to produce visible results.

Agera Rx has been produced after ten years of research by a team of chemists, biomedical scientists and physicians ensuring thorough testing and scientific validation.

Agera Rx skin care is formulated using tiny particles in bioemulsions that encapsulate these powerful anti-ageing ingredients and ensure their penetration into the deepest layers of the skin.

Agera Rx anti-ageing skin care has been scientifically proven to penetrate and stimulate the skin for rapid, visible results. Powerful antioxidants protect against free radical damage, while retinols of varying strengths smooth away fine lines and wrinkles. Growth Factor Peptides, available exclusively in Agera Rx, help to control the skin’s internal ageing process while restoring and maintaining its thickness and resilience.

The

Agera Skin Peels

Agera peels are non-irritating, pain free and cause no down time from skin shedding, redness or irritation.

They have a unique action causing significant stimulation of the fibroblasts deep within the skin. They encourage the production of new collagen and elastin. This proliferative effect on the skin’s cells delivers many anti-ageing benefits without any unsightly skin shedding or redness. After only one session, the skin will look clearer, smoother and brighter.

Active ingredients include Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid), Citric acid, Salicylic acid and Lactic acid. Different protocols are followed according to your skin type, problems needing treatment and response to treatments used so far. These peels can be used on skin for anti-ageing, pigmentation and acne.

For maximum results we recommend a course 6-8 peels.

Microdermabrasion can also be incorporated into the treatment for some skin conditions.

Click here to download a brochure about Agera Skin Peels.

We also stock the popular AGERA Rx medical skin care range, formulated using tiny particles called “nanosomes” that encapsulate these powerful anti-ageing ingredients and ensure their penetration into the deepest layers of the skin. Our favourite is the recovery complex; a moisturiser and that not only reduces redness and irritation after skin care treatments but also reduces that tightness/ dryness feeling by locking moisture into the skin and giving it a smooth soft feeling for the rest of the day.

Obagi Blue Peel Radiance

Blue Peel Radiance

What is Blue Peel RADIANCE?

Blue Peel RADIANCE is an addition to the Obagi medical range. It contains a unique blend of Salicylic, Glycolic and Lactic acid to provide a gentle but effective peel, resulting in tighter, smoother, brighter-looking

skin immediately after just one use. Salicylic acid-based peels are used to improve patient outcomes for a range of skin conditions, including acne, photodamage and melasma. Blue Peel RADIANCE effectively exfoliates the uppermost damaged skin layers, leaving your skin fresh, renewed and radiant. The Radiance Peel is 2.7ph and 20% Salicylic with a blend of 2% Lactic acid and 2% Glycolic acid.

What results can I expect?

Obagi Blue Peel RADIANCE can improve your skins look, texture, and feel in a matter of minutes. Superficial exfoliation, with little to no downtime. Provides instant radiance, tighter, smoother, brighter-looking skin after just 1 treatment although a series of 4 to 6 peels provides best overall results. It is particularly effective, in the treatment of photodamage, and results in an overall improvement in the texture and tone. It may also be beneficial in the treatment of darker skin pigmentary changes.

Blue Peel radiance Before After

Blue Peel radiance Before After

What does the Blue Peel Radiance Procedure Involve?

A test application of the peel solution must be applied on a small area of the skin at a consultation before arranging to have a treatment.

At the procedure, the skin will be thoroughly cleansed. The lips and corners of the eyes and nose are then covered with a small amount of petroleum jelly to protect the sensitive areas. A piece of gauzes then placed over each eye if required.

The Blue Peel Radiance Prep Solution is then applied to clean, dry skin, and the skin is left to dry completely.

The first layer of Blue Peel Radiance is applied in order to achieve even results. You may experience mild tingling for the duration of the application. This is normal. For a very light peel, only 1 layer of product is applied. For incremental desquamation of the stratum corneum, up to 2 layers are applied. If, after waiting 30-60 seconds, the skin has tolerated the first layer, a second application is applied in the same pattern. If significant reactions (strong burning or stinging, significant discomfort, erythema) arise and do not subside after 3-5 minutes, a second layer of the peel is not applied.

The peel remains on the skin for up to 10-12 minutes after application of the first layer. The peel is then removed by applying Nu-Derm Gentle Cleanser with a sponge or gauze and then rinsing with water.

A non-chemical sunscreen is then applied to the patient’s skin.

How do I prepare my skin prior to the peel?

Patients should avoid the use of the following products and procedures on the area to be treated for 5-7 days prior to the peel:

Laser Hair Removal
Waxing or depilatory creams
Electrolysis
Microdermabrasion

Certain products may increase skin sensitivity and/or cause a stronger reaction to the peel, avoid the use of the following products for the 3 days prior to the peel:
Topical retinoids and tretinoin (including Retin-A, Renova, Differin, Tazorac, Refissa)
Other topical acids or exfoliants that may be drying or irritating to the skin (such as alpha hydroxyl acids [AHAs], beta hydroxyl acids [BHAs], exfoliating masks, retinol, benzoyl peroxide)

CAUTION: Patients who have recently had any medical aesthetic facial treatments or procedures (laser, microdermabrasion, etc) should wait until all sensitivity has subsided.

How do I care for my skin post-peel?

Mild peeling and redness is normal.
Our Obagi Ambassador will advise you when to return to your normal skincare regime (usually 5-7 days after application of Blue Peel RADIANCE)

Use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 at all times, especially for the week post-peel and avoid direct sun exposure.

Treat the skin gently
Do NOT exfoliate or pick at peeling skin
Do NOT wax or use any form of hair removal during the peeling stage
Avoid AHAs & BHAs, retinoids, facial products containing fragrance for 1-week post peel

We recommend
Sunshield SPF50
Hydrate or Hydrate Luxe to moisturise the skin.

Common contraindications include:

Active cold sores, herpes simplex or warts in the area
Wounded, sunburned or excessively sensitive skin with the application area
Currently pregnant or breastfeeding
Dermatitis or inflammatory rosacea within the peel area
Roaccutane use within 6-12 months prior the peel application
History of radiation therapy in the application area

What side effect may I experience with the Blue Peel Radiance?

Common side effects include:
Transient Burning
Irritation
Erythema

Very Rare side effects include:
Scarring
Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH)
Infection

How often should I have a Peel?

For best results, Cheshire Lasers usualy recommends a Blue Peel Radiance every 2-4 weeks for  4-6 peels.

If I use Nu-Derm, can I still have the peel?

Not in the first six weeks (Reactive Phase).

After this, you can have a peel, but you must stop using Exfoderm, Tretinoin/Blend 3 days prior.

If I use CR-x, can I have the peel?

Yes, but stop the use of Exfoliating day lotion three days before the peel due to the Glycolic and Lactic acid content.

What if I am using the CLENZIderm M.D System?

You can have a Blue Peel RADIANCE peel when using CLENZIderm.

Simply stop the use of “active” products 3 days prior to the peel. This includes all 3 products in the system. The normal protocol can resume 48 hours after application if your skin can tolerate it.

How do I book a Peel?

First, book a consultation with Natasha or Anna.

You can book the consultation here. The consultation will cost £25, but we will deduct this from your first treatment.

They will go over the treatment, make sure it is the best treatment for you and arrange for you to come in for the treatment at a suitable time for you.

ZO Acne and Oil Control Peels

ZO ossential peel Cheshire

Dr Zein Obagi MD created two ZO Peels for Acne and Oil Control

The ZO Skin Health Stimulator Peel stimulates the growth of collagen and elastin and reduces wrinkles, and the ZO Restorative Peel improves more sensitive skin, restoring luminosity and texture.

Combining these with the ZO Acne and Oil Control Treatment is also an extremely effective way to minimise oil production, large pores and inflammation in congested skin.

What is in a Restorative Peel?

This peel contains 3.5% Mandelic Acid, 3.5% Lactic Acid 3% Citric Acid to provide a gentle surface exfoliation while instantly improving skin’s luminosity, texture and tone for a restored complexion. It is appropriate for all skin types, especially dull, dry and redness-prone skin.

What is in a  Stimulator Peel?

This peel contains a 27% blend of lactic, citric and salicylic acid plus potent concentrations of other active ingredients to exfoliate the skin, stimulate the growth of collagen and elastin to reduce lines, wrinkles and other blemishes.

The Zo Acne and Oil Control Peels include:

A deep cleanse to remove impurities.

A scrub (Exfoliating Polish) to prepare the skin for easy extraction by removing remaining debris from the skin’s surface and then the Polish Activator.

ZO Peel Prep Solution to prepare the skin for the Peel.

A Stimulator or Restorative Peel according to your skin type and sensitivity. To minimise excess oil production and tighten pores.

An oil-free cream with a special blend of moisture factors, fatty acids and amino acids to perform a calming massage.

A bio-sulfur masque containing eucalyptus and kaolin for antiseptic and detoxifying benefits.

To finish the treatment, antioxidants, DNA-repairing enzymes and powerful sun protection using natural melanin, zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are applied to minimise acne scarring.

The active Peel solution can cause the superficial layer of the skin to peel off and may cause slight initial reddening. The treatment exposes a new layer of healthy, undamaged skin, resulting in a smoother texture and a more even skin tone.

What are the benefits of the ZO Restorative and Stimulator Peels?

  • Stimulate the growth of healthy cells while you shed damaged skin.
  • Treats mild acne and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
  • Reduces pore size.
  • Improves the efficacy of skincare products.
  • No downtime.
  • Immediate results.
  • Soften and rejuvenate sun-damaged skin.
  • Improves skin texture and tone.
  • Reduce or eliminate age spots, freckles and hyperpigmentation.
  • Soften fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Stimulate the production of collagen for firmer, more youthful skin.

Who should (and should not) have a ZO Peel?

We recommend this peel if you have mild to moderate acne, are prone to breakouts, or have congested or oily skin. It also helps reduce skin ageing, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation.

We do not recommend the peel for those who are:

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Using Roaccutane or prescription retinoids
  • Having radiation or chemotherapy
  • An allergy to the acids in the individual peels.

Do I need to prepare my skin before the peel?

You do not need to perform any preparation or use any specific skin care before the ZO Peels. However, you will get better results if you use some of the ZO products before having the treatment.

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment will take about 50 minutes.

You will notice results straight away and skin will be fresher, glowing and with an improvement in texture and tone. We recommend a course of treatments for optimum results.

Is the peel painful?

Unlike some stronger chemical peels during which you may feel discomfort, the ZO Restorative and Stimulator Peels are not painful and do not involve any downtime. You may experience a mild warming sensation briefly whilst the peel is applied. There may be slight initial reddening of the skin, followed by limited peeling a day or two later. For special events, the Peel is ideal to have three days before.

How long before I see results?

Most people will see a dramatic improvement in their skin after just one peel. However, for maximum benefit, we recommend a course of four Peels, 4-6 weeks apart.

Enhance the results of your ZO Restorative and Stimulator Peels.

Additional ZO products can be added to your Stimulator Peel to enhance the results for your skin.

We also recommend the Dermalux Light after this treatment for an additional cost to enhance the results.

Pelvic Floor Treatment

EMsella Powerform Pelvic floor exercises

Cheshire Lasers introduces Powerform V-Plus Pelvic Floor Treatment

Cheshire Lasers has one of the first Powerform V-Plus chair treatments for strengthening and tightening the pelvic floor muscles. Treating the pelvic floor can help a variety of problems the most common being stress incontinence.

The Benefits of Treatment:

high intensity focused electro-magnetic

What is Powerform V-Plus?

Powerform V-Plus is a new powerful revolutionary pelvic floor and core muscle toning treatment. It uses High-Intensity Focused Electro-Magnetic technology which creates the equivalent of 20,000 muscle contractions in a  30-minute treatment.

Powerform V  induces deep pelvic floor muscle contractions equivalent to 15,000 kegel exercises in just 30 minutes.

The treatment targets the pelvic floor muscle directly and doesn’t require neuromuscular control, the muscle can contract far more than it would consciously, creating highly effective results that could not be achieved using manual kegel exercise alone.

How does Powerform V-Plus Work?

The Powerform V-Plus creates electromagnetic energy fields which trigger the biological effect of exercise in a non-invasive, painless manner. The energy stimulates motor neurone pulses in 100% of the muscle fibre, significantly more than what would be possible in conventional pelvic floor and core muscle exercises.

The treatment engages the Mitochondria which burn off energy, which encourage the muscle to adapt to this increase in energy. The intense muscle contractions stimulate the muscles to create new protein strands and muscle fibres, resulting in increased muscle tone, strength, density and volume.

The treatment not only helps increase fat and calorie burning in the area treated, but it also improves the body’s metabolic rate. Another benefit to the treatment is a reduction in the amount of inflammation in that area of the body.

The overall result increase in:

  • muscle tone
  • strength
  • volume
  • density

Contra-indications:

At Cheshire Lasers we do not recommend a Powerform V-Plus treatment if you have the following:

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Copper coil ( IUD)
  • Pacemaker
  • Implanted Defibrillator
  • Reveal Device
  • Active Cancer or undergoing Cancer treatment
  • Large Metal Prosthetics near the treatment area
  • Infection near the treatment area

You will need a medical assessment from our clinic doctor if you have the following conditions:

  • Selected Cardiac or Vascular Diseases
  • Thrombosis or Thrombophlebitis
  • Prescribed Anti-coagulant medications
  • Steroid medication
  • Uncontrolled Blood Pressure
  • Transplant patients
  • Diabetes
  • Epilepsy
  • Auto-immune Conditions / Immunosuppression
  • Fragile Skin
  • Skin Thinning medication

How many treatments will I need?

At Cheshire Lasers, we recommend a course of around eight Powerform V-Plus treatments to achieve results.

We recommend a treatment twice a week. It can be three times a week if you prefer, however, you must leave 48 hours between each treatment to allow the muscle to recover.

Would a course of Powerform V-Plus treatments suit me?

At Cheshire Lasers, we recommend Powerform V-Plus to strengthen and tighten the pelvic floor muscles.

The treatment can benefit a range of people and problems:

  • Post-pregnancy to improve weakness in the pelvic floor and or abdominal wall muscles
  • Weakness due to ageing – to help prolapse symptoms and or stress incontinence.
  • Muscle weakness due to medical conditions where exercise is not possible.
  • To help pelvic floor weakness problems when  pelvic floor physiotherapy and exercises have failed to help the problem

Is the treatment safe?

Yes! The Powerform treatment transmits consistent electromagnetic fields to the pelvic floor, triggering the biological effect of Kegel exercises in a non-invasive, painless manner.

How long does the treatment take?

Each treatment lasts 30 minutes, making sessions suitable around even the busiest of lifestyles!

What will I feel during the treatment?

The treatment is completely pain-free but can sometimes feel a little uncomfortable. Simply sit on the 3D Powerform V chair fully clothed. The treatment will stimulate thousands of muscle contractions.

Why consider a Powerform V-Plus Pelvic Floor Treatment?

The current guidelines recommend pelvic floor muscle training as the first-line conservative treatment for stress incontinence and mild prolapses. Exercises need to be performed regularly every day and continued long term to make a difference. Some people struggle to do the exercises due to lack of time/commitment whereas others have a poor ineffective technique so the exercises do not improve the problem.

To help with pelvic floor exercises your GP can refer you to a physiotherapist who specialises in pelvic floor problems. They can advise you about technique and help you improve the efficiency of the exercises so they actually cause changes and improvement. Physiotherapists can also help you by using a biofeedback device to measure the strength of the pelvic floor muscle to help educate you when you are making strong contractions and also advise if the exercises are making a difference. They can also advise about vaginal cones. Some physiotherapists also use electrical stimulation to help the muscle contract and increase muscle tone.  Despite these interventions, some people still struggle to improve their pelvic floor strength and tone.

Powerform V-Plus targets the entire pelvic floor, unlike the electrical stimulation devices and unlike conscious pelvic floor exercises which only target a small area of the pelvic floor.  A treatment session of 30mins is equivalent to 20,000 contractions so each treatment leads to quicker and more dramatic muscle changes compared to any other treatment.

Does the treatment replace Kegel exercises?

Powerform treatment is considered more effective, as Kegel exercises cannot achieve the intensity or number of muscle contractions that the treatment achieves in a 30-minute session.

It is still recommended that you perform some exercises especially after your course of treatment so you can continue to maintain the strength and function of your pelvic floor. You can however have book maintainenace treatments if you prefer as an alternative.

What types of incontinence improve with Pelvic Floor Treatment?

Stress incontinence is the most likely to respond to pelvic floor treatment. Mixed incontinence can also improve to some extent.

Whats is stress incontinence?

Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is a condition in which there is an involuntary loss of urine on effort, physical exertion, sneezing or coughing. This is most commonly caused by a weak pelvic floor hence why pelvic floor exercises are recommended.

Powerform Pelvic Floor Treatment Reviews

Feedback Received 1 week after 8th Treatment:

I have had a week pelvic floor and mild stress incontinence for years and this has got worse over time. I struggle to feel my pelvic floor and therefore find pelvic floor exercises impossible.  So I thought I would give the Powerform a try.
At first, I felt very little during the treatment and was concerned my muscles were past improvement. After a few treatments, I was more aware of my pelvic floor muscles and felt I could contract them slightly better than I could before. On my 6th and 7th treatments the muscle contractions felt more intense and I became more aware of my own pelvic floor contractions in between treatments.

A week after my 8th treatment on the powerform chair I am so much happier with my pelvic floor function. I can feel a significant improvement in the strength of my muscles and the stress incontinence has improved a lot.  I plan to have another couple of treatments over the next month and will definitely continue with the recommended 6-week maintenance

Pleased with the results of the powerform pelvic floor treatment. Just had my 8th treatment, my pelvic floor feels tighter and I can feel and use the muscles in this area much more. I have improved control passing urine and it has reduced my stress incontinence. Thank you, TS.

Feedback received on the day of 8th treatment:

I was having several leaks a day whilst coughing, sneezing, lifting, physical exercise and certainly if I didn’t make it to the toilet on time.  Now I think its mostly reduced to just physical exercise as I feel more in control at other times.
I would definitely recommend the treatment as I do feel more confident. I am determined to carry on with pelvic floor exercises and follow up with occasional Power Chair treatments.

From booking the appointment through to aftercare, Cheshire Lasers is for me, the most professional salon in the area. Helen is incredibly professional and is expert in microblading. The environment at Cheshire Lasers is also amazingly clean which is very important when having this kind of treatment. Helen T from reviews.co.uk

Helena explained everything about electrolysis during my initial consultation and patch test. She was very gentle and talked me through the whole procedure, giving me aftercare advice and information to take home. Helena is very professional and has a warm approachable personality which makes you feel at ease. I would definitely recommend Helena for electrolysis. Heidi from reviews.co.uk

I am absolutely delighted with the results of my microblading . Helena was lovely, very professional, patient and her attention to detail is exemplary. I only wish I had known about this treatment before. From Anonymous on reviews.co.uk

I couldn’t be happier with the results of the micropigmentation and the service which Helena provided. Having such a procedure obviously requires consideration and I was initially apprehensive, but Helena explained every step of the process and was extremely professional throughout. She is meticulous in the execution of the procedure, with an excellent eye for detail which has resulted in my new hair line looking completely natural. From James on reviews.co.uk

I would totally recommend Cheshire Lasers to anyone, very professional friendly and welcoming. I felt very relaxed and was well looked after. I had microblading done with Helena she was brilliant, showed me some of her work she had previously done, explained the whole procedure, took her time with everything and I absolutely love my eyebrows and would recommend Helena to anyone who is thinking of having this done. From Katia on reviews.co.uk

I saw Helena today for microblading. Helena was very thorough with my eyebrow design and all the way through the process, checking every now and then with me that I was happy. She’s a perfectionist and it was great she spent time ensuring the eyebrows looked just right. Extremely happy with them! They look better than I could of imagined, natural, even, and the colour is perfect! I had scars in both eyebrows so it’s amazing these have been filled in now! My face looks transformed! Goodbye eyebrow pencil! Looking forward to the top-up in 4 weeks. Thank you. Anon on reviews.co.uk

I recently had a number of SMP treatment sessions at Cheshire lasers. After seeing the treatment on social media I became really interested and wanted to learn more about the treatment, so I made a consultation appointment with both Cheshire lasers and a well known nationwide treatment provider. I visited Helena at Cheshire lasers and I found the consultation extremely professional and she took a long time to explain her background and all information about the treatment. I felt so relaxed, reassured and comfortable I could have had the treatment done there and then but I decided to get a second opinion to compare. I reality my mind was already made up on having the treatment done with Helena but it was good to go somewhere else to know I really was making the right decision, after all it’s a major life-changing treatment. The journey from start to finish has been emotional and exciting. This treatment really is life changing and some might be put off by the cost but I can tell you that it’s the best money I’ve probably ever spent and I would spend it again. Helena provides an excellent service and she is very professional and caring. Helena is passionate about achieving results. The completed photos she has uploaded to social media and her website only show the level of detail she goes to, in order to achieve the right result that you will be more than happy with. The initial treatment takes about 4-5 hours depending on how big the area needing treatment is required. However, the practice she works at is nice and relaxing and I was able to listen to music of my choice while undergoing the treatment, so don’t be put off as it goes really quickly and on my last session I almost fell asleep I was so relaxed. I can’t thank Helena enough, to see the finished results within a few months has been fantastic and her experience and expertise is clear from the start of treatment right the way through. I only wish I’d had it done sooner, there will be lots of doubts in your mind but I can guarantee you will enjoy the sessions and seeing “your new hair” evolve over the course is something magical. From Chris on reviews.co.uk

I am so pleased with the results of Helena’s Microblading treatment. From having virtually no eyebrows, I feel transformed with my new ones. I feel so much more confident and it’s great not having to use makeup.
