Advanced Electrolysis

Helena Fryer performs Advanced Electrolysis at Cheshire Lasers

advanced electrolysis milia, skin tag removal Cheshire

Advanced Electrolysis is used to remove or reduce a range of skin blemishes on the face and body, such as skin tags, milia, blood spots, thread veins and spider veins.

The treatment involves placing a very fine, sterile probe (needle) beside or into the blemish and applying a tiny amount of electric current. This generates a small amount of heat which ‘dries up’ the blood vessels that feed the blemish. This instantly removes or visibly reduces the size and appearance of the skin lesion.

This is a safe, effective and pain-free procedure that produces instant and excellent results.

What can Advanced Electrolysis treat?

Skin Tags

Skin tags are small, soft, skin-coloured growths on the skin. They resemble a small pieces of hanging skin, you can find them anywhere on the face or body. However, you most frequently see them in areas of friction, moisture and skin folds such as on the eyelids, neck, armpits, under the breasts or around the groin. Skin tags can be hereditary, due to a Human Papilloma Virus infection, pregnancy or age.

To remove a skin tag with advanced electrolysis low heat is applied to a tiny sterilised probe (needle). This heated end is used to cauterise the skin tag and dry up the area. A small scab forms, which falls away within a few days.

Milia

Milia are tiny cysts that contain keratin and sebum (lipid epithelial plugs or epidermal inclusion cysts). They are usually white, firm to the touch and the size of a pinhead. Milia most commonly occur over the upper cheeks and under the eyes but can occur anywhere on the body. They can appear on their own or in clusters. The exact cause is unknown but they can develop after any skin trauma. It is also thought that the use of heavy, rich creams or a change in facial products can be the cause of their appearance. They are seen more often after holidays when rich sun creams have been used to protect the skin from the sun.

Milia removal with advanced electrolysis is a quick and easy treatment. A fine heated probe (needle) is used to desiccate the contents of the milia and the remaining tissue is absorbed into the body with no need for extraction.

Campbell De Morgan Spot / Cherry Angioma / Blood Spots

Campbell De Morgans (Blood Spots) range in colour from bright red to purple. They are usually round, dome-shaped, have a smooth surface and can be up to 5mm in diameter. They are due to a proliferation of the blood capillaries and occur mainly on the trunk of the body. Often they appear over several months, having no special significance for general health. Advanced electrolysis can, in one treatment, quickly remove these lesions or reduce them in size.

The treatment involves placing a very fine, sterile probe (needle) beside the blemish and slowly rolling it over the area. A small amount of heat is applied, which ‘dries up’ the blood vessels that feed it. The blemish instantly disappears or visibly reduces in size and appearance. Smaller blood spots usually need one treatment. Larger blood spots may require up to 3 treatments.

Telangiectasia (Red Veins or Thread Veins)

Telangiectasia (Thread Veins / Red Veins) are very small blood vessels that have become widened and visible just beneath the surface of the skin on the face. They cause thread-like red lines or patterns on the skin, which form gradually and often in clusters. They usually appear on the face around the nose, cheeks and chin. There are many causes, for example; Acne Rosacea, ageing, overexposure to the sun, overexposure to cold weather, high-impact exercise, high blood pressure, menopause or smoking, to name a few.

Advanced electrolysis easily removes Telangiectasia (Thread Veins / Red Veins). A small amount of heat is applied to a tiny probe (needle). By lightly tapping this heated probe over the red vein, the blood vessels are cauterised, making the red colour disappear.

Results are instant, but stronger veins may require 2-4 treatments. The veins may return in the future if there are underlying causes. thread vein removal electrolysis

Spider Naevus ( Spider Veins )

Spider Naevi are similar to thread veins, but they have a central capillary from which fine capillaries radiate so they resemble the legs of a spider. Hence the name Spider Naevus. The central body or capillary is often raised and, in the majority of cases, supplies the blood for the radiating capillaries. Spider naevi can occur spontaneously or can occur due to trauma or pregnancy. Advanced electrolysis can easily treat Spider naevi using the same method as for thread veins.

How long will my treatment session last?

The average treatment ranges from 15 to 30 minutes. It will depend on how many lesions you need removing. The amount of time per treatment also depends upon the reaction of your skin to treatment and your sensitivity.

What will I feel during the procedure?

Even the most sensitive person should be able to tolerate the treatments. Most people expect to feel much more discomfort than they actually experience.

Stretch Marks

At Cheshire Lasers Clinic most of our Treatments for Stretch Marks are provided by Dr Priyanka.

What are Stretch Marks?

Stretch marks are the result of damage that occurs to the skin when it is stretched due to rapid growth, pregnancy or weight gain. Teenagers often suffer but so do bodybuilders who put on muscle bulk during exercise regimes.

The rapid stretching causes the middle layer of the skin known as the dermis to tear, and deeper skin layers show through.

Stretch marks are therefore like scars in the middle layer of your skin. Initially stretch marks appear red due to blood vessels under the dermis becoming visible. Over time, the red appearance reduces and the marks become a silvery colour.

Stretch marks often appear more visible when weight is lost as the fatty tissue in the skin often makes the problem less visible. Around 80% of women develop stretch marks in pregnancy, the appearance often can improve naturally over time.

Why have I got Stretch Marks?

Some people are more susceptible than others to stretch marks. They occur in both women and men of all races and skin types. Steroid therapy, and a family history of stretch marks increases your risk. Some people never develop any stretch marks, despite being exposed to excessive skin stretching.

Those who do suffer can understandably feel self-conscious about their bodies, which can lead to anxiety and low of self-esteem. Swimming and exposing the skin whilst on holiday can be awkward too.

How do I treat Stretch Marks?

Stretch marks are difficult to treat.

No one treatment can cure and get rid of them.

Not one treatment is better than another.

People respond differently to the different treatments and the response can not be predicted.

However Stretch Marks can be improved so the visible appearance is reduced.

At Cheshire Lasers we use the following treatments to improve the appearance of stretch marks:

Different people respond to different treatments, for severe stretch marks a combination of treatments is the best option.

Other treatments that may also help stretch marks include:

Pulsed dye laser treatment is one type of laser treatment available.

Laser Resurfacing

Cosmetic camouflage (make-up) is available over-the-counter at pharmacies. Great for small areas of skin affected by stretch marks. Some types are waterproof and last two to three days.

Cosmetic surgery for stretch marks is expensive and rarely recommended.

How do I book treatments for Stretch Marks at Cheshire Lasers Clinic?

First we recommend you book a consultation with Dr Priyanka she can assess your stretch marks. She will take a medical history and will then decide which treatment options would suit you best.

Dr Priyanka can then discuss your treatment options and the prices involved. She will provide you with a treat plan summarising her recommendations. A course of several different treatments are usually recommended for best results.

Should you decide to go ahead with the treatment we can book you in for your first treatment.

How does RRS Mesotherapy treatment work for Stretch Marks?

Mesotherapy treats stretch marks with a cocktail of ingredients that occur naturally in the body in order to promote healing and rejuvenation of the skin. The main ingredients are fibroblast growth factors, which heals and repairs the skin, amino acids, fatty acids, vitamin C and flavonoids which help the skin to rejuvenate.

These ingredients are already present in the body and so further injection just stimulates their actions as opposed to introducing foreign chemicals. One of the most important ingredients used is Silica. This is a mineral that naturally works in the body to correct tissue problems, including scar tissue and help strengthen its collagen fibres.

How many Mesotherapy treatments will I need?

Usually a course of six treatments – every 2 weeks.

How does Microneedling with Dermaroller or Dermapen improve Stretch Marks?

The objective with skin needling is to induce tiny pinprick injuries to the skin. These intentional ‘injuries’ induce thousands of tiny, controlled wound-healing responses. The bleeding induced brings various cellular actions including stimulating fibroblast activity and activating skin growth factors. This is the same response the skin makes to an injury and instigates the formation of new skin, collagen production and tissue remodeling.

To have a real effect on stretch marks the microneedle or roller would need to have needles of between 1.5 mm to 2.5mm long to penetrate into the scar tissue of the stretch mark! This is much longer than a home use roller which are typically 0.2mm to 0.5mm long.

A local anaesthetic cream is required for this treatment as needles of more than 0.3mm / 0.5mm long will reach the nerve endings in the skin and are therefore painful!

This collagen formation helps to smooth and fill in a stretch mark.
Several treatments are needed – depending upon the age and depth of the stretch marks.

How many Microneedling treatments will I need?

A course of 3 or more – every 6 weeks.

How does Carboxytherapy help for Stretch Marks?

Carboxytherapy involves superficially injecting tiny amounts of carbon dioxide gas (CO2) directly into the stretch mark with a tiny needle. The injected medical CO2 gas makes your skin ‘think’ there is an oxygen deficit and it responds by increasing blood flow to the skin and regeneration of tiny blood vessels in the skin. This will with time allow more oxygen and nutrients to reach the skin, which leads to improved elasticity, skin regeneration and tissue remodeling.

Carboxy is most effective on newer stretch marks which are still red. Old stretch marks need 5 to 10 treatments at three weekly intervals.

We recommend a treatment every two to three weeks.

Tretinoin and Vitamin A Derivatives:

Tretinoin often called by its brand name Retin-A, is a prescription-only treatment. It should not be used by pregnant or nursing women and can cause side effects such as redness and peeling.

Vitamin A derivatives such as retinol cause less side effects and a prescription is not needed, however, they need to be used in high enough doses to have an effect.

A 0.1 percent tretinoin (retinoic acid) cream was shown to help diminish early stretch marks in one study, but later results have shown mixed results.

Tretinoin can get through the upper layer of skin and rebuild collagen, which explains how it improves stretch marks for some people. It is more effective on new stretch marks, so early treatment is best. Once the marks have faded to white or silver, tretinoin may not be beneficial.

The ZO’s Body Emulsion Plus is the best body product available without a prescription. With ingredients like retinol, ceramides and emollients, it prevents moisture loss and allows your skin to regain its youthful appearance, texture and tone. Plus, the formulation contains an antioxidant-rich complex with lactic acid to soften rough patches. The Body Emulsion Plus works to perfectly exfoliate, hydrate and nourish for revived and smoother looking skin.

RRS Mesotherapy

Dr Priyanka performs RRS Mesotherapy at Cheshire Lasers Clinic. It is a prescription-only treatment designed to improve skin quality on face, chest and hands by plumping and lifting the skin and boosting collagen. It is also used to treat pigmentation, dark circles and fine lines under the eyes which can enhance your other treatments.

Your skin is the biggest organ in the body. It needs hydration and nutrition to ensure it is healthy and fit for use. mesotherapy is a treatment that can ensure our skin gets the nutrition it needs.

What is mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is a method which uses needles to insert natural extracts, homeopathic agents, pharmaceuticals, minerals, antioxidants and vitamins into the skin, where they are the most effective. The therapy is very individual and the products used depend on the state on the skin. Those products stimulate the fibroblasts into production of collagen, elastin and extracellular matter, and protect the cells from damage caused by free radicals.

What is RRS mesotherapy?

RRS Technology is a new biorevitalizing procedure delivering nutrition directly into the skin using mesotherapy techniques. Each product contains between 20-72 active biorevitalization substances. RRS are very effective and safe (CE Class III) injection products.
Following an initial skin assessment where your needs and concerns are addressed a combination of the 14 available RRS product formulations are combined for your personal treatment and they are then delivered to the superficial skin layers through a very efficient mesotherapy device called the pistor Eliance gun.
Products activate on injection. delivering the optimal concentration of active ingredients selected to achieve the maximum level of improvement to the healthy function cells.

RRS mesotherapy cocktails are intended for the treatment of the following skin conditions:

  • wrinkles on the face and around the eyes
  • loose skin
  • smoker’s skin
  • tired, dull skin
  • stretch marks
  • cellulite
  • hair loss
  • changes in pigmentation

What treatments are available?

  • Hydration with hyaluronic acid serum Hyalift
  • Tightening through Silisorg and HA tensor lift
  • Mild skin relaxation with HA skin relax (containing BoNta 568 a very low potency plant based botulinum)
  • Vitamins, co-enzymes, antioxidants, amino acids and trace elements  within HA Injectable and Hyalift 75 pro active.
  • Collagen and elation boosters via Silisorg RRS products.

RRS Mesotherapy also has the following specialist treatments for specific areas and concerns:

  • HA eye for the eyes
  • HA whitening pigmentation
  • XL hair for hair restoration
  • HA strimatrix Stretch mark treatment
  • HA cellutrix Cellulite treatment

How many treatments are needed ?

Single treatments do not give lasting results.

We recommend a course of 4 or 6 treatments, 1 to 2 weeks apart depending on the areas treated. The treatment results can last from 12 to 18 months However to maintain the results the course may need repeating 1-3 times per year.

Can RRS Mesotherapy be combined with other treatments ?

Treatment can be combined in a program with other injectable and skin treatments.

For example botulinum toxin treatment should take place 2 weeks prior to your RRS course. Dermal fillers can be used simultaneously at any of your 6 RRS treatments. RRS can be used immediately before a skin peel or laser treatment.

What are the side effects from RRS Mesotherapy ?

We recommend you have some time to recover after your Mesotherapy treatment.

You will experience some stinging, redness and superficial swelling, which will settle within 24-48 hours.
Sometimes you may bruise.
Although rare, other possible side effects include the appearance of some small needle marks which will also resolve within a few days. Infection is very, very rare.
Treatment around the eye area may take longer to settle – possibly 5-7 days.

What are the contraindications for RRS Mesotherapy ?
Not recommended in pregnant and breastfeeding women

How much does RRS Treatment cost?

Mesotherapy prices will vary and depends on the size of the area treated and amount of product used. Discounts on packages are also available.

Dermaroller

The Dermaroller can be used for skin rejuvenation, stretch marks and scar repair.

It is CE marked, sterile and is a single use disposable medical device.

We use only genuine Dermaroller’s form Aestheticare.

he Dermaroller medical device creates controlled micro-needle punctures of the skin surface. It is used sterile, is single-use and utilises the highest quality materials and workmanship in its construction.

As a consequence of the treatment, the skins natural repair process releases the body’s own growth and healing factors that stimulate new collagen and skin cells to develop under the skin surface. The repair process can take 6 weeks to become visible and will continue in the months after the procedure. A series of 2 to 4 Dermaroller treatments, normally with at least 6 weeks between procedures, are needed to achieve the maximum results.

Acne Scarring

The dermaroller is gaining increasing popularity especially for acne scarring. 2 to 4 treatments are needed for a 70- 80% improvement.

Acne scarring can also be improved by fraxel, chemical peels and subcision. The following article may be of interest if you are considering any of these treatments.

Acne Scarring Treatments.

dermroller Cheshire

Ageing Skin lines and wrinkles

We have also seen some good results on facial and décolleté lines and wrinkles.

Even some of the big celebrities are now using this treatment. Here is an article from Grazia Magazine about Angelina Jolie. The dermaroller is also mentioned in Hello.

Stretch Marks

Stretch marks also respond well to treatment with the Dermaroller – a great treatment after pregnancy.

What does a Dermaroller Treatment involve ?

The Dermaroller procedure can cause temporary pain, although it is normally less painful than alternative facial medical regeneration procedures. This can normally be well controlled with the use of a topical anaesthetic cream.

What to expect after a Dermaroller Treatment

Immediately after the Dermaroller procedure the skin will be red, resembling mild to moderate sunburn. As the skin naturally heals the redness will resolve. The skin usually settles after a few hours but it can remain red for three to four days after a Dermaroller treatment. Many people are able to return to their normal activities the same or next day.

It is very important to follow sun / UV exposure and protection measures for at least 2 weeks after the procedure. An SPF 50 or higher and with stated UVA and UVB protection on a daily basis with regular applications for the same period is recommended.

There is a home Dermaroller, which does not cause as much trauma to the skin, that can be purchased from us or online to use in between treatments to enhance results. This can also be used on is own for anti ageing.

The genuine Dermarollers has been mentioned in the press so much recently here is a summary.

Xela Rederm Redermalization

Xela Rederm Redermalization treatments are no longer available at Cheshire Lasers we now provide Polynucleotides and skin booster treatments.

Whats is Xela Rederm?

Xela Rederm is a Redermalization treatment from the Hyalual® Institute. Xela Rederm introduces hyaluronic acid and succinate into your skin cells and provides a powerful visual anti-age effect and a long-term result. Effectiveness of this new generation injectable anti-age product is proven by clinical studies, which show the dramatic improvement in the appearance of your skin.

To understand the Redermalization treatment you need to understand the causes of ageing which include:

  1. Dehydration of the skin.
  2. The effect of free radicals on the skin.
  3. The slowing down of metabolic processes that in turn slows down the production of collagen in the skin.

Redermalization is the process of injecting a mixture of Hyaluronic Acid and Sodium Succinate using a special technique, to rejuvenate the skin.

Hyaluronic acid is known for its hydrating properties, which addresses the first cause of ageing.

Succinic Acid blocks free radicals and has the effect of an antioxidant with powerful restorative properties, addressing the second cause of ageing. It also stimulates the production of collagen and elastin at a cellular level, which addresses the third cause of ageing.
Succinic Acid has further been clinically proven to reduce pigmentation, making this an excellent treatment for improving pigmentation as well.

Redermalization aims to re-organise as well as stimulate the production of collagen and elastin fibres – and in so doing results in skin renewal. Other injectable treatments target the tissue just beneath the skin – whereas Xela Rederm is injected directly into the skin itself – treating the actual problem rather than just plumping from below.

What are the benefits of Redermalization ?

  • More youthful looking Skin
  • Improved complexion
  • Improved elasticity
  • Reduction of wrinkle depth and length
  • Skin lifting
  • Improved skin tone and appearance of pigmentation
  • Improved Hydration
  • Acne scarring and Stretch-mark improvement

Which areas can Redermalization treat ?

  • Face, neck and décolletage.
  • Hand rejuvenation.
  • Body: sagging skin of the stomach and buttocks.
  • Scars and stretch marks.

What does a Redermalization treatment involve ?

We apply numbing cream to reduce any discomfort.

We then injects the Xela Rederm into the skin using multiple tiny injections.

After treatment we apply a hydrating WOW mask.

For optimal results you will need 3-6 treatments with 2-3 weeks between each session. The amount will dependent on your skin quality.

What occurs after the treatment ?

After the treatment, very small bumps are visible where the product was injected. These bumps dissapear over a few hours once the products is absorbed into the deeper layers of the skin. The result is plumper, firmer and more hydrated skin. Apart from the bumps, there may be some mild redness and a chance of some small bruises.

What are the side effects ?

Most side effects are mild or moderate in nature and usually last less than 7 days . The most common side effects include it a temporary bumps under the skin, bruising, pain tenderness , swelling, itching and discolouration.

The Perfect Peel

The Perfect Peel Cheshire

The Perfect Peel is available at Cheshire Lasers

What is The Perfect Peel?

The Perfect Peel is a revolutionary peel that will transform your skin into looking younger, healthier and clearer in just one week. The Perfect Peel can be used on all skin types and requires no pre-peel skin preparation. The process takes less than 15 minutes and is virtually pain-free. It can be performed only by a trained medical practitioner.

What makes the Perfect Peel different?

The Perfect Peel founds itself on a key anti-ageing ingredient never before used in a peel: Glutathione.

It contains 5 acids blended with vitamins, minerals and Glutathione.

The Perfect Peel Ingredients:

  • Trichloracetic Acid (TCA)
  • Salicylic Acid
  • Retinoic Acid
  • Glutathione
  • Kojic Acid
  • Phenol
  • Vitamin C
  • Minerals

Glutathione

Glutathione is the ultimate antioxidant, penetrating deep into the cellular level of the skin to fight oxidant damage and is the anti-ageing answer to premature wrinkling. Our bodies naturally produce glutathione but as we age, our levels deplete due to sun exposure, air pollutants, environmental stress and the ageing process itself. Evidence shows Glutathione reverses melanin’s metabolism, lightening dark pigmentations.

Glutathione is a very simple molecule which we produce naturally all the time in our bodies. It is derived from glycine, glutamic acid and cystine and is extremely beneficial to us. Glutathione is used as an alternative to hydroquinone, as it appears to behave in a similar way, if not better. However it does not have all the potential side effects that can occur with hydroquinone.

Glutathione protects the cells in our body from harmful toxins. It works by clearing the body of free radicals and toxins that can lead to skin problems like hyperpigmentation and melasma, as well as more common concerns like sun or age spots. Through its ability to protect our cells from those same free radicals, skin lightening is a side effect.

Kojic acid

Kojic acid is a powerful lightening agent and proven to increase collagen and elastin production, resulting in skin that is brighter and tighter.

TCA, Phenol and Retinoic Acid reduce wrinkles and correct pigment problems.

Salicylic Acid exfoliates the skin and reduces inflammation.

Alone the ingredients are powerful, but in combination, they produce results that are astonishing.

Benefits of The Perfect Peel:

  • Improves the overall tone and texture of your skin
  • Lightens and brightens your skin
  • Removes or reduces sun damage and age spots
  • Reduces pore size and softens fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduce or eliminate Hyperpigmentation and acne scars
  • Improves acne skin conditions and Melasma
  • Stimulates the production of collagen resulting in firmer skin
  • Slows down the ageing process and prevent wrinkles

What do I expect during a Peel Treatment?

The skin is first degreased using alcohol or acetone. The Perfect Peel is then applied and left on the skin for 6-8 hours, it is then washed off, or left on the skin overnight.

Your specialist will give you an individual home treatment pack. This pack contains retinol wipes and a Vitamin C moisturiser to assist the peeling process and enhance your results.

For ‘normal’ skin you may consider a Perfect Peel treatment 2-3 times a year. For more stubborn conditions you may require The Perfect Peel at monthly intervals to achieve the results you require. A series of 2-3 treatments applied once every 4 weeks will allow for optimal results for more severe skin conditions such as Melasma and active acne.

We do not recommend the Perfect Peel if you are:

Pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Allergic to aspirin.
Have active herpes (cold sores) or infected lesions.
Have used Roaccutane 3 months prior to treatment

Are there any side effects from the Peel?

You may feel a slight stinging or tingling sensation during the application of the peel. This will subside after just a few seconds as the area numbs a little. We can apply a cooling fan to aid your comfort.

Expect some redness post-treatment, like a sunburn, which is temporary and normal, and the skin may also be slightly swollen and may itch for a few days following treatment. Your skin will slough off in thin sheets of epidermal skin that begins around day three and generally is completed by day six or seven. The use of the at-home products and moisturisers will help with skin hydration.

Things to consider after treatment

You can apply make-up 8 hours after treatment.

Your skin will feel sensitive for about a week.

You Must Avoid Sun Exposure.

Your medical practitioner will discuss these potential side effects in a consultation.

Nearly three decades ago, Dr Zein Obagi a leading dermatologist, redefined skincare to include the concept of creating and maintaining healthy skin instead of only treating skin disease. This new philosophy led to the development of some of the most widely recognized skincare products and solutions recommended by physicians. Dr Obagi has redefined the concept of skin health to include comprehensive solutions that bridge the gap between therapeutics and maintaining truly healthy skin.

In 2007, under the guidance of Dr Obagi, ZO Skin Health, Inc. introduced innovative results-oriented skin health solutions to treat everyone seeking healthier skin on a daily basis.

ZO Skin Health Products Target Every Patient. Every Age. Every Stage.

ZO Skin Health provides results-oriented therapies tailored to meet your specific needs. Delivering clinically proven results, these solutions maintain healthy skin that is strong, smooth and firm, evenly toned, and fully hydrated.

ZO Skin Health Skincare by Dr Zein Obagi is a prescription-strength, dispensed topical skincare system only available after a consultation with a ZO-trained health care professional. The products provide general improvements to skin health and appearance. The products have been thoroughly researched and clinically tested with fantastic results. ZO’s results-orientated therapies are tailored to suit your skin’s specific needs and are designed for you to apply at home. Everyone’s skin is different and that’s why ZO skin products are only available from an authorised clinic after a consultation.

ZO have created two ranges. The ‘Medical’ range treats disorders and more difficult skin conditions, whilst ‘Skin Health’ provides environmental protection and everyday skin health support.

How much do ZO Skin Health Products Cost?
