Reflexology for Long COVID

Reflexology treatments Middlewich Cheshire

What is Long COVID?

Most people who have COVID-19 recover completely in a few weeks. Unfortunately, some people continue to experience a variety of symptoms after their initial recovery from the infection.

Older people are the most likely to experience lingering COVID-19 symptoms. The symptoms experienced are often now called “long covid”. The exact reason for these symptoms are not yet fully understood. It may be a side effect of the infection possibly due to residual inflammation caused by the original infection.

The most common signs and symptoms that linger over time include:

  • Fatigue
  • Cough
  • Chest pains
  • Shortness of breath
  • Headache
  • Muscle aches
  • Joint pain
  • Memory loss and or poor concentration
  • Mood changes: e.g anxiety, depression

How can Reflexology Help Long COVID?

The Association of Reflexologists has developed guidelines using specific reflexology techniques to help restore physical and emotional wellness to patients who are still struggling with long-term symptoms after suffering from COVID.
These reflexology techniques are not an alternative to seeking medical advice. Before considering reflexology treatment, make sure you speak to your doctor first, to make sure there is nothing more serious causing your symptoms, which may need medical assessment and treatment.
Reflexology may aid and improve some symptoms, including mood, fatigue, aches and pains. Sharron and Tara, our reflexologists, have studied the Association of Reflexologists’ guidelines and techniques and can offer you holistic support by devising a personalised treatment plan for your active symptoms.
If you wish to discuss further, you can contact Sharron or Tara directly.

Powerform Case Studies

EMsella Powerform Pelvic floor exercises

Cheshire Lasers Evaluation of  Powerform Chair Treatment

Cheshire Lasers purchased one of the first Powerform V-Plus chair treatments to strengthen and tighten pelvic floor muscles.

We performed some case studies of this pelvic floor strengthening treatment to help us evaluate the effect this treatment has in general and also assess the other added benefits.

Treating the pelvic floor can be difficult and time-consuming for people, especially if you have a full and busy life. However, it can help various problems, the most common being stress incontinence.

The Benefits of Treatment:

emsella power form pelvic floor treatment

How did we assess case studies for our Pelvic Floor Treatment?

We recommended two treatments every week for four weeks.

We asked case studies to complete the following forms:

This allows us to assess their experience to see the benefits of the treatment.

We also asked for feedback to share with other patients interested in this treatment.

View the feedback we received from some of our case studies.

Powersculpt Muscle Treatment

Cheshire Lasers introduces Powersculpt

Cheshire Lasers will be introducing  Powersculpt from mid-September 2020

What is Powersculpt?

Powersculpt is a powerful new revolution in body shaping and muscle toning. Due to the use of High-Intensity Focused Electro-Magnetic technology a 30-minute treatment is equivalent
to 20,000 crunches, squats, curls or leg extensions.

what is powersculpt

How does Powersculpt Work?

The Powersculpt creates electromagnetic energy fields which trigger the biological effect of exercise in a non-invasive, painless manner. The energy stimulates motor neurone pulses in 100% of the muscle fibre, significantly more than what would be possible in conventional exercise.

This engages the Mitochondria which burn off energy, which encourage the muscle to adapt to this increase in energy. The intense muscle contractions stimulate the muscles to create new protein strands and muscle fibres, resulting in increased muscle tone, strength, density and volume.

The treatment not only helps increase fat and calorie burning in the area treated, but it also improves the body’s metabolic rate. Another benefit to the treatment is a reduction in the amount of inflammation in that area of the body.

The overall result:

  • increase in muscle tone, strength, volume and density
  • reduced-fat percentage in the target area
  • an improved metabolic rate
  • reduced inflammation

Which areas can Powersculpt Treat?

The most popular treatment areas are:

  • Abdomen
  • Buttocks
  • Thighs ( front, back and or inner thigh)
  • Arms ( biceps and or triceps)
  • Calves

We have another device which can treat the pelvic floor and core muscle using the same technology. You can find out more information about this treatment here.

  • Transplant patients

How many treatments will I need?

At Cheshire Lasers, we recommend a course of around 8 Powersculpt treatments to achieve results.

We recommend a treatment twice a week. It can be three times a week if preferred, however, you must leave 48 hours between each treatment to allow the muscle to recover.

Would a course of Powersculpt treatments suit me?

At Cheshire Lasers, we recommend Powersculpt treatment for a range of people and problems:

  • Active people who want to improve their muscle tone, strength and or definition in problem areas where they struggle to improve the area with exercise alone.
  • Post-surgery– reduces muscle degeneration in periods where physical activity is not possible
  • Weakness due to ageing – slows muscle loss and maintains healthy muscle metabolism in the elderly.
  • Professional athletes – maintains muscle mass during detraining.
  • Muscle weakness due to medical conditions where exercise is not possible.

Hydro2 Facial

What is the Hydro2 Facial?

Do you love hydrafacial? but fancy something more? If so this new luxury facial may be perfect for you!

The Luxury Hydro2 Facial is the ultimate 5-star facial.  It includes  7-technologies in total.   It contains a hydrafacial treatment but also utilises 6 other technologies to deliver outstanding results for all skin types and concerns.

Using this device Cheshire Lasers can offer a range of different facials to deliver brightening, tightening, anti-ageing as well as clearing skin

The treatments are customisable to all skin types to meet all skin needs and vary from 30 to 110 mins.

Our Luxury Hydro2 Facial incorporates all 7 steps and is the ultimate pamper package.

Here are the 7 treatment technologies which can be incorporated into your Hydro2 Facial:

Treatment 1: The Hydro Deep Cleanse

Similar to the Hydrafacial this uses a combination of three solutions to cleanse and smooth the skin using an AHA & BHA based solutions. It hydrates and nourishes the skin infusing lactic, salicylic and hyaluronic acid to deeply cleanse, purify and hydrate.

Treatment 2:  Exfoliation

This treatment step uses a vibrational cleansing tool and a choice of exfoliation products. It utilises ‘the Bohr effect’ to allow oxygen to be drawn into the skin. The active ingredients can include Kojic Acid and Retinol which result in a hydrating and brightening effect.

Treatment 3: Radiofrequency Skin Tightening

This step uses Radio Frequency technology to increase collagen reproduction. We recommend this step for skin with early and late signs of ageing.

Treatment 4: Skin Lifting with Electro-ion technology

The Electro-ion technology creates skin lifting by stimulating muscle contraction. It is similar to CACI and works well for jowl and eyebrow lifting.

It uses electroporation which also increases the absorbency of the skins cells for product penetration. This allows our time defence and brightening serums to penetrate deeper into the skin.

This, in turn, revitalises and ‘wakes up’ dull and lifeless skin

Treatment 5: Fire & Ice

5 A – The ‘Fire’ represents the heat element during treatment. The handpiece uses heat to open the pores, increase blood supply and aid product infusion.

5 B – The ‘Ice’ a Cryo facial that uses cooling technology, chilling the skin down to 5℃. This step comes at the end of each facial. It decreases the blood supply, giving a tightening effect and sealing in the infused products. It also helps to reduce any redness following treatment.

Treatment 6: Ultrasound / Hydration

This step uses ultrasound technology to infuse a hydrating collagen-rich serum from a mask for maximum penetration.

Treatment 7: Oxygenation

The Oxygenation spray is used to apply a hydrating serum. It creates a Venturi effect which breaks down the serum molecules and encourages maximum absorption. This helps to deliver intense skin hydration.

Applying oxygen to the skin using this method helps to increase cell metabolism and improve these concerns. Some bacteria are not able to live in oxygen, so applying oxygen to the skin will give this anti-bacterial effect, having a positive effect on congestion.

Which Hydro2 Facial should I have?

We can deliver a range of bespoke facials using these 7 technologies and can also add on Dermalux LED according to your requirements.

Here is a list of some of the most popular ones:

Check out the Singing Dentist experiencing his first-ever  Deluxe Hydro Facial we think it’s hilarious.

Here is our feedback from our first treatment:

HYDROFACIAL – 5* ultimate facial!! Everything you could ever want in one facial! I’ve experienced many facials over the years, but this treatment absolutely blows everything else out of the water!! Highly recommended – it combines a traditional hydra facial with radio frequency (using a much improved and more superior machine), together with muscle stimulation and tightening (similar to a CACI facial – of which I’m a huge fan). It doesn’t stop there, my therapist Natasha continued the treatment with lots of anti-ageing and hydrating serums and a gel mask infused with collagen and antioxidants, which was stimulated using sonic vibration. The final stages were an oxygen facial and finally a cryo-facial. As I stated, this 5* facial combines absolutely everything!!
My therapist, Natasha was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, she explained every procedure and highlighted the benefits!!
The results are AMAZING, my skin is positively glowing and lifted! Definitely a red carpet treatment. Give it a try, I promise you, you won’t be disappointed ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fungal Nail Test

fungal nail test

5 Minute Fungal Nail Test

Discoloured, Damaged, Thickened Nail? Is it Fungal or Not?

Samantha Hatton our podiatrist now offers a quick, painless and highly accurate fungal nail test within only 5 minutes of taking a nail sample!

This new clinical diagnostic test, developed in Japan has been brought to the United Kingdom by renowned Podiatrist, author and researcher, Dr Ivan Bristow.

This simple and effective Five Minute Fungal Nail Test is transforming the way foot healthcare professionals diagnose dermatophyte (fungal) nail infections.
Rapid Results in just a few minutes, whilst you wait.

What are the benefits of the Test?

No need to send your nail clippings to the NHS laboratory
No long waiting time for results, which may take up to 4 weeks via NHS
Detects the presence of all common fungus types from the smallest sample of nail
Immediate diagnosis, allowing us to initiate treatment without delay
Scientifically proven to give highly accurate and reliable results

What does the 5 Minute Test do?

The test confirms the presence of dermatophytes and thus fungal nail infection in a small nail sample by a process known as immune-chromatography. If the test is negative, then fungal nail infection is not present which mean the deformity is most likely due to other nail pathologies.

How accurate is the Test?

The Five Minute Nail Fungus Test has been shown to have an accuracy of 97% in published studies– meaning you can be confident in the test results.

How much nail do you need?

Due to the sensitivity of the test, only a small amount of nail specimen is required.

Is there reliable scientific evidence that the Test really works?

Yes, the Five Minute Fungal Nail Test has undergone rigorous testing and to date, a number of scientific publications documenting its success have appeared in the British Journal of Dermatology and the Journal of Dermatology.

Is the test accurate if I am already using anti-fungal treatments?

Yes, anti-fungal treatments have no effect on the result of the Five Minute Fungal Nail Test. This is unlike the usual mycology testing undertaken by the NHS, which can provide false-negative results when on anti-fungal treatments.

What is the cost of the 5 Minute Fungal Nail Test?

A 5-minute test is £40.

The price includes taking a small nail sample, performing the test and confirming the results.  With your consent, Samantha can inform your GP of the test result if it is positive.

Ultra Brows

Ultra HD Brows Middlewich Cheshire

What are Ultra Brows?

Ultra Brows is a unique treatment for the ultimate well-groomed, high-definition eyebrows. The Ultra Brows eyebrow shaping procedure transforms how you look and, more importantly, how you feel.

Our Brows stylists assess your face shape and colouring before creating a bespoke brow tailored exclusively for you.

Using a combination of skills, from preparation and personal consultation to custom blending, designing, creating and tailoring the shape as well as customised aftercare, our brows stylists can transform a face.

The treatment consists of seven steps. This isn’t just shaping and tidying – Ultra Brows is eyebrow artistry.

The Ultra Brows 7 steps include:

Assess

Assess your face shape, colouring and natural brows to determine the best result for you.
Some clients can achieve the perfect Brow shape on the first visit, whilst others may need a few treatments and be advised to grow in more eyebrow hairs to get the best results. Ultra Brows can be thick or thin, dark or light, angular or soft – as we all different and we all have different ideas about how we want to look.

The aim is to give you the perfect bespoke shape and colour just for YOU.

Tinting

We tint all brow hairs, including some of the ‘fluffy’ ones around the brows, so that we have the maximum amount of hair to work with to get the best shape for you.

A high-quality tint rich in pigment gives longer-lasting results than traditional tints. We mix the tint according to your present colouring and desired result.

Waxing

We wax both above and below the brows to give a shape tailored to suit you best.

Threading

We use threading to remove the spare hair we don’t want around the brow area. Threading is also great for blending away telltale wax lines and ensuring smooth makeup application.

Tweezing

Tweezing is used to perfect your shape.

Trimming

We then trim any long hairs so that all brow hairs lie perfectly in their newly defined shape.

Design

Eyebrow makeup will be applied to create the perfect look you want to achieve.

We can also guide you how to create this look at home.

What is the difference between Ultra Brows and HD Brows?

HD Brows uses HD branded products that are slightly different from those we use for Ultrabrows. Therefore you would need a patch test before your treatment if you have had HD Brows treatment elsewhere. Otherwise, the results are similar, and you still achieve well-groomed high definition eyebrows.

Before and after treatment advice

To get the best results from your Brow treatment, it’s best to let your brows grow in for around four weeks before your first treatment.

Before your Brows treatment, you will need a patch test 24 to 48hrs before your treatment. It takes only a minute to do. Please call into Cheshire Lasers for a patch test. You will be asked to complete a consent form, and one of our team will perform the test for you.

To maintain your gorgeous new brows, you’ll need to repeat the Brows treatment every 3-6 weeks once your hairs have regrown and your colour has faded.

IMPORTANT:

Please don’t exfoliate the skin or use products containing AHA’s or fruit acids around your eyebrows for at least a week before and after treatment so as not to thin the skin and make it more sensitive to the waxing.
If you have taken Roaccutane or any other skin-thinning medication in the past, you must wait at least six months before having waxing on the eyebrows.

Reflexology in Pregnancy and Labour

reflexology in pregnancy

Reflexologist Sharron Roughton specialises in supporting the Maternity Journey through Pregnancy and Labour.

A reflexology treatment during pregnancy allows you to relax and put your feet up. As your body undergoes changes physically, hormonally, and emotionally, reflexology will support you at every stage of your pregnancy. Reflexology offers you a sense of calm and relaxation and usually improves your sleeping.

Reflexology helps to relieve pregnancy symptoms such as back pain, nausea, insomnia, fatigue, headaches and swollen legs. Many women enjoy reflexology throughout their pregnancy to help them stay relaxed and prepare for their body changes and their new baby.

Some people also use it to encourage labour if they are near or past their due date. It’s thought that it may stimulate the release of hormones to encourage the body to get labour started naturally. Midwives and Health Care Professionals are warming towards the benefits of reflexology.

Always check with your Doctor or Midwife if you have any concerns about your pregnancy before starting treatments.

Key Benefits of Maternity Reflexology

    • reduce stress, anxiety and improve sleep
    • offers relief from sickness, heartburn, headaches
    • reduces swelling of feet and ankles
    • increases wellbeing
    • helps improve body aches and circulation
    • helps for a healthier pregnancy and labour.

EndyMed Jawline Shaper

endymed jawline mini shaper treatment cheshire

Whats is the EndyMed Jawline Shaper Treatment?

Cheshire Lasers Clinic is excited to introduce the Endymed Mini Shaper.

This innovative handpiece has a unique concentric electrode surface, which provides focused 3DEEP Radiofrequency energy deep into the skin for maximum results. The Mini-Shaper is the most effective handpiece available today for treating the jowls and under the chin.

The Mini Shaper stimulates collagen production and increases fat cell turnover. This allows us to contour the jawline and deliver an effective tightening action to treat sagging, lax skin as well as improve tired, dull skin.

How does the EndyMed Jawline Shaper work?

The shaper handpiece delivers controlled radiofrequency energy delivery exactly where it needs to be. The radiofrequency energy penetrates the dermis down to 7mm which is much deeper than our other treatments.  The Mini-Shaper offers nearly twice the power than other similar-sized RF treatment handpieces on the market. It also maintains tissue heat for long after the treatment is complete, providing extremely effective heating.

The heat energy stimulates existing collagen and encourages the production of new collagen to give tighter, firmer more lifted skin. It also focuses on fat cells which helps reduce the heaviness of the jawline to deliver an improved contour.

The following diagram demonstrates the treatment area:

endymed jawline mini shaper treatment cheshire

How soon can I see results?

Results can be seen immediately but a course of treatments are required for the best long-term results.

The pictures here show the results before and after only one treatment. These results are short term and will improve and last longer after a course of treatments.

Ultraformer Jowl Treatment

Who is the EndyMed Jawline Shaper Treatment suitable for?

This treatment is suitable for all skin types. We highly recommend it if you have heavy drooping jowls or have skin laxity and sagging under the chin.

Is there any downtime?

The EndyMed Jawline Shaper treatment is painless with little to no downtime. You may experience some redness in the treated areas, but this will subside within a few hours.

How many treatments will I need?

We recommend a course of six treatments for optimal results. Ideally, we like to book the treatments every 1-2 weeks.

Following the initial treatment course, we recommend one treatment every 2-3 months thereafter to maintain the best possible results. However, some people are happy with the results of a maintenance treatment every 3-6 months.
