RadioFrequency RF Microneedling

Dermaforce microneedling

At Cheshire Lasers, we use Dermaforce to deliver RadioFrequency (RF) Microneedling. This advanced treatment combines microneedling with Radiofrequency (RF) technology to effectively treat a large number of cosmetic concerns, with excellent results.

This combination treatment has become more and more popular recently due to improvements in the way the technology is used to deliver better results. It is also more popular due to its extensive coverage on social media and in the press.

How RadioFrequency Microneedling Works

Insulated fine gold-plated needles deliver Bi-Polar Radio Frequency (RF)  into the skin. The depth of the treatment varies depending on the skin concerns that need treating. The radiofrequency energy heats the tissue in the region of 55 – 65°C and, depending on the depth, will stimulate cell renewal, new collagen, increased hydration and resurfacing.

how RadioFrequency Microneedling Works

how radiofrequency microneedling works

How is New Collagen Stimulated?

The energy/heat released into the skin causes immediate trauma to the existing mature, dehydrated collagen cells causing contraction and damage to this tissue. This damage stimulates a fibroblast action (fibroblasts are the connective tissue cells that produce collagen and elastin) which results in the production of new collagen and an increase in the diameter of the collagen fibres. The spaces between the fibres are also reduced.

This result causes an increased density of the dermal layer giving a skin-tightening effect.

What Can RadioFrequency Microneedling Treat?

  • Loose and Sagging Skin
  • Fine Lines and Wrinkles
  • Pitted Skin
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Stretch Marks

Which areas can it treat?

We usually recommend a full-face treatment rather than treating specific facial areas. However, we can focus more on specific areas if they need more improvement.

Areas that RF Microneedling work well on include:

  • Crows feet
  • Neck and décolletage
  • Perioral/ Mouth area
  • Jowls and jawline
  • Large pores
  • Scaring

RF Microneedling can also treat areas on the body, including hands, arms, knees and abdomen.

Dermapen

What is a Dermapen?

The dermapen uses multiple thin needles that gently and quickly penetrate the skin. The skin needling method used in the DermaPen micro-needling stimulates the skin’s remarkable self-repair mechanism. This is done with the help of several thin needles that gently penetrate the skin, thus, creating micro “injuries.” These micro “injuries” trigger the synthesis of new collagen, without the risk of permanent scarring.

Why have a Dermapen Treatment?

Dr Teri Johnson attended the national FACE conference in June 2012 where she heard a presentation given by Professor Tony Chu about the new Dermapen and she knew it would prove popular at Cheshire Lasers as it offers many advantages over dermaroller treatments.

FDA-approved, the Derma Pen represents the next level in collagen induction therapy and is an ideal treatment for:

  • Skin tightening
  • Skin rejuvenating
  • Acne scars
  • Fine wrinkle
  • Stretch mark flattening and smoothing
  • Scar remodelling

The Dermapen offers several advantages over the traditional dermaroller: –

  • The Dermapen is easier to use in treating areas like the upper lip, under the eyes and nose
  • It is less painful than the Dermaroller treatment
  • There is less downtime with the Dermapen than after Dermaroller treatment
  • The Dermapen is more effective than the Dermaroller for treating acne scars
  • The Dermapen is an electronically powered device.
  • Multiple needles vertically pierce the skin to enhance rejuvenation results, maintain epidermal integrity & reduce downtime.
  • The automatic vibrating function of the Dermapen™ increases dermal needling speed, effectiveness & absorption of products while reducing pain & discomfort.

Dermapen™ is as effective as Fraxel, IPL, Lasers & Chemical Peels at a fraction of the cost of alternatives.

The Dermapen for treating Ageing.

As we age, the production of the skin’s supporting cells, fibroblasts, collagen and elastin, naturally reduces which leads to wrinkles, sagging and crepe skin. The Dermapen treatment works by stimulating the skin to produce more fibroblasts, collagen and elastin is and is seen as an effective alternative to facelifts and other surgical anti-ageing treatments. The Dermapen makes ‘micro injuries’ to the skin with very fine needles. These injuries prompt the skin to go into repair mode, which includes the release of collagen, elastin and the stimulation of new supporting skin cells, fibroblasts. This reduces the signs of ageing, such as sagging, wrinkles, pitting and uneven skin tone.

Derma Pen is an effective skin rejuvenation treatment but without the recovery time required of more traditional treatments such as chemical peels or fraxel Derma Pen is effective for skin tightening, skin rejuvenation, acne scars and wound healing, and natural improvement in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Dermaroller

The Dermaroller can be used for skin rejuvenation, stretch marks and scar repair.

It is CE marked, sterile and is a single use disposable medical device.

We use only genuine Dermaroller’s form Aestheticare.

he Dermaroller medical device creates controlled micro-needle punctures of the skin surface. It is used sterile, is single-use and utilises the highest quality materials and workmanship in its construction.

As a consequence of the treatment, the skins natural repair process releases the body’s own growth and healing factors that stimulate new collagen and skin cells to develop under the skin surface. The repair process can take 6 weeks to become visible and will continue in the months after the procedure. A series of 2 to 4 Dermaroller treatments, normally with at least 6 weeks between procedures, are needed to achieve the maximum results.

Acne Scarring

The dermaroller is gaining increasing popularity especially for acne scarring. 2 to 4 treatments are needed for a 70- 80% improvement.

Acne scarring can also be improved by fraxel, chemical peels and subcision. The following article may be of interest if you are considering any of these treatments.

Ageing Skin lines and wrinkles

We have also seen some good results on facial and décolleté lines and wrinkles.

Even some of the big celebrities are now using this treatment. Here is an article from Grazia Magazine about Angelina Jolie. The dermaroller is also mentioned in Hello.

Stretch Marks

Stretch marks also respond well to treatment with the Dermaroller – a great treatment after pregnancy.

What does a Dermaroller Treatment involve ?

The Dermaroller procedure can cause temporary pain, although it is normally less painful than alternative facial medical regeneration procedures. This can normally be well controlled with the use of a topical anaesthetic cream.

What to expect after a Dermaroller Treatment

Immediately after the Dermaroller procedure the skin will be red, resembling mild to moderate sunburn. As the skin naturally heals the redness will resolve. The skin usually settles after a few hours but it can remain red for three to four days after a Dermaroller treatment. Many people are able to return to their normal activities the same or next day.

It is very important to follow sun / UV exposure and protection measures for at least 2 weeks after the procedure. An SPF 50 or higher and with stated UVA and UVB protection on a daily basis with regular applications for the same period is recommended.

There is a home Dermaroller, which does not cause as much trauma to the skin, that can be purchased from us or online to use in between treatments to enhance results. This can also be used on is own for anti ageing.

The genuine Dermarollers has been mentioned in the press so much recently here is a summary.
