What does the pHformula Oily and Congested Treatment Involve?
Because oily, congested skin is prone to reactions and further breakouts, we start with a consultation to create a bespoke treatment plan for your skin.
A course of treatments is required for the best results. We often recommend starting with a facial-level treatment and slowly increasing to resurfacing treatments, depending on your skin sensitivity. For some people, we prioritise reducing breakouts and calming the skin, while for others we move on to stronger resurfacing ingredients to optimise cell renewal and rejuvenation.
At Cheshire Lasers, the treatment itself involves the following steps:
STEP 1:
E.X.F.O. cleanse contains active ingredients which assist in loosening rough dead skin cells while being hydrating and anti-inflammatory.
STEP 2:
Degrease the skin using S.K.I.N. primer.
This helps cleanse and degrease the skin to ensure optimal penetration of active ingredients.
STEP 3 (OPTIONAL extra):
25-minute DERMALUX treatment.
DERMALUX uses colour wavelengths of visible light to stimulate skin cells to repair and rejuvenate, and to neutralise bacteria. Dermalux uses red light, blue light and infrared light. Blue light, in particular, can have a powerful effect on oily and congested skin, helping to kill bacteria, reduce acne, shrink pores and fight infection.
STEP 4:
SP Complex / A.C Resurfacer
This gentle resurfacing complex exfoliates the skin and prepares it for further treatments by opening the cellular delivery channels. This allows better penetration of the active ingredients in the next steps and helps activate the skin’s regeneration response. Here, we assess your skin sensitivity on a scale of 1-10, should you wish to move on to one of the stronger pHformula treatments next time.
When we apply the complex, you may feel a mild stinging sensation.
STEP 5:
Mask or Resurfacing treatment.
A mask is chosen to suit your skin concerns and sensitivity and whether you would like a facial or a resurfacing treatment. A popular treatment we may use here is the I.N.S.T.A.N.T. Resurfacing Mask, which leaves the skin radiant and glowing. Salicylic acid assists in superficial exfoliation and cell renewal. It provides tighter pores and skin texture. Impurities are absorbed without removing natural oils. Ferulic acid and Vitamin E provide an antioxidant effect to brighten discoloured skin. It also aids the skin’s ability to heal, repair, and protect itself from environmental damage. The mask is left on for up to 15 minutes.
STEP 6:
Remove the Mask and Perform the Extraction Treatment.
Once again, we use E.X.F.O. cleanse to remove the mask and help with extractions for up to 5 minutes.
STEP 7:
Radiance Boost Treatment.
Radiance Boost contains a complex of pure L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C), Retinol, and Hyaluronic acid. It also contains the pHformula special delivery complex, which enhances ingredient penetration into deeper layers of the skin. This ensures the treatment is at optimum potency to achieve the best results.
This aids in skin hydration, promotes cell turnover, offers antioxidant properties, triggers collagen production, increases the rate of skin repair, encourages circulation and offers UV protection.
Step 8:
Post-Recovery Cream and SPF.

Oily and congested skin is more complicated than most, so our aestheticians at Cheshire Lasers in Middlewich always start with a consultation first. You can do this in two ways.
The pHformula skin assessment, sensitivity test and introductory facial, £50. We discuss your skin, perform a sensitivity test, and do a gentle exfoliating facial to determine your future skin needs for further facial or more advanced resurfacing treatments.
