Eyebrow, lip, chin and facial threading with Jade at Cheshire Lasers in Middlewich — no heat and no chemicals, so it is kinder to the skin than waxing.
This ancient art of threading, eyebrow shaping, and hair removal originates from Asia. It is now available to male and female clients here at the Cheshire Laser Clinic.
Threading has fast become the celebrities’ preferred method for shaping perfect eyebrows and removing hair.
We are lucky to have one of Cheshire’s Threading Experts, Jade Maines, here at Cheshire Laser Clinic. She will analyse your eyebrows or facial hair and advise you on the perfect solution. She can also remove hair from the chin, lips and face.
Each threading experience is personal, private and nothing short of perfection.
The end result for eyebrows is a precise, symmetrical, and accurate arch that also defines your facial features beautifully. The results are a real confidence booster.
For hair removal, the treatment is kinder to the skin and less traumatic than waxing, as no heat or chemicals are applied. No hair removal treatment can ever be pain-free. However, we use a wonderful desensitising Witch-hazel Solution to make your threading experience as pleasurable as possible.
Regrowth is finer, softer and smoother – retraining unruly eyebrows to grow in a more flattering direction.
The frequency of your threading experience depends on your personal hair regrowth. Most clients visit us at Cheshire Lasers every 3-4 weeks.
To book your threading experience – for eyebrows, upper lip, chin or the face – call the reception desk at Cheshire Lasers Clinic on 01606 841255.
Jade performs all threading at Cheshire Lasers; she also runs her own business, Beautology. She has many years of experience and has received many recommendations.
Can I combine my Threading Treatment with Tinting?
Jade often combines her threading treatments with eyebrow and eyelash tinting.
She also offers a premium brow treatment known as Ultrabrows, which is similar to the popular HD Brows treatment.
How much is threading at Cheshire Lasers?
Threading with Jade starts at £10 for a small area, and £12 for eyebrows.
Melasma is one of the most difficult forms of pigmentation to improve, and one of the most likely to return. On this page, we explain what melasma is, why the deeper type resists treatment, which of our treatments help — and which we deliberately do not use for it.
What is melasma?
Melasma presents as dark, irregular patches on the face that develop over time. The dark patches are commonly found on sun-exposed areas such as the upper cheeks, nose, upper lip and forehead. Melasma is most common in women and is often triggered by pregnancy and/or the contraceptive pill. Melasma worsens when the skin is exposed to sunlight, especially in the summer.
Treating melasma can be challenging. Superficial (epidermal) melasma often responds well to therapy. However, deeper melasma (dermal melasma) can often be resistant to many treatments. That is why the first step in treatment is a detailed consultation with one of our healthcare professionals. The cause and type of melasma can be established, and treatment can be individualised and tailored to each patient’s needs.
The Obagi Nu-Derm system delivers fantastic results for melasma; even after a few weeks of use, the pigment usually looks much better. You need to continue on the system for 18 weeks, after which your skin looks brighter and smoother, with fewer fine lines and wrinkles. After 18 weeks, you need to move to a simpler maintenance regimen to avoid rebound pigmentation. If you suddenly stop the treatment, the pigment usually comes back. Occasionally, stubborn melasma may need a peel to complete the treatment on this system.
Obagi Nu-Derm is a prescription system. To start it, book a consultation with Dr Kathryn Hazlehurst.
Cysteamine is a fantastic skin-lightening agent used to treat hyperpigmentation disorders such as age spots, melasma and post-inflammatoryhyperpigmentation.
It is a novel, highly effective alternative to prescription treatments such as hydroquinone and tretinoin. All skin types can use Cysteamine, including dark skin and it is a great option for stubborn pigmentation, including melasma and post-inflammatory pigmentation
At Cheshire Lasers, we do not use Intense Pulsed Light or the ND: YAG laser to treat melasma. There is a higher risk of side effects, and the response rate is poor.
Preventing melasma from coming back
The challenge with treating melasma and other pigmentation disorders is that they commonly relapse after treatment.
The most important way to prevent melasma is to wear good sun protection year-round and use sunblock in the Summer.
Where you can, avoid medications that may trigger melasma. If you take the combined pill, it is worth discussing alternatives with your GP.
Continue your treatment on a maintenance regimen. You can do this with the same skin care products used for treatment, but you can also use them less often or move on to something less potent.
For the Nu-Derm system, it’s important to arrange a review with your prescriber to make sure you are on the best maintenance regimen. This helps you manage pigmentation and reduce the risk of it returning.
For all conditions, a layered approach to melasma treatment works best:
Reduce pigment production
Remove existing pigment with your treatment of choice
Prevent recurrence
A High SPF and topical products are an important part of your regimen.
pHformula Radiance Release System is an in-clinic treatment we carry out in Middlewich, perfect for boosting the skin and making it more radiant.
It is an excellent treatment to consider before and after sun exposure, as the L-ascorbic acid suppresses melanocyte activity and reduces the harmful effects of the sun’s rays.
It also helps to strengthen the skin’s collagen and elastin network and speed up the skin’s healing and repair rate.
The treatment suits skin with photo-ageing and pigmentation and is also an excellent preventative treatment.
What is in the pHformula Radiance Release System?
pHformula Radiance Release System contains a complex of pure L-ascorbic acid, Retinol, and Hyaluronic acid. It also includes the pHformula special delivery complex, which enhances ingredient penetration into deeper layers of the skin.
During treatment, we activate the complex with a pHformula radiance release activator before applying it to your skin. This ensures the treatment is at optimal potency for the best results.
Which Treatments contain the Radiance Release System?
Radiance Boost Facial
We combine a gentle resurfacer treatment (SP Complex) with the pHformula Radiance Release System to suppress melanocyte activity, stimulate collagen, and reduce the effects of the sun’s harmful rays. We then apply a mask tailored to your skin type, or you can take one home to use later in the day when you have more time.
You can book the Radiance Boost Facial without a patch test or consultation.
This treatment is excellent in the summer, before and after a sunny holiday, and before a skiing trip to reduce the harmful effects of winter sun.
We combine a gentle CR Complex Resurfacing System with the pHformula Radiance Release System. We then apply a mask to treat your skin type. Alternatively, you can take a mask home to use later in the day when you have more time.
Please remember to still protect your skin from UV radiation with SPF 50+ and avoid direct, extended sun exposure.
How do I book a Radiance Boost Resurfacing Treatment?
There are two ways to book, so you can choose whichever suits you.
Collect a CR sample from reception, do your patch test at home 4 or 5 days beforehand, then book your treatment online.
You can also experience a Radiance Boost added to your usual CACI Facial, Endymed or Thermaclinic treatment. When booking, simply choose the add-on treatment you would like to try.
If your semi-permanent makeup or microbladed eyebrows have not turned out as you hoped, they can usually be faded. Brows sit in the middle of your face, and most people who come to us have been unhappy with theirs for some time before they ring.
We use a Q-switched laser to break down the unwanted pigment, either across the whole brow or in a smaller area you want changed. It is a gradual process over several treatments rather than a single fix. Everything below explains what is involved, how long it takes and what your brows will look like in between.
How do you remove Semi Permanent Makeup and microbladed eyebrows?
At Cheshire Lasers, we use our Lynton Lumina Q Switched laser to remove semi-permanent makeup eyebrows and micro-bladed eyebrows. This is the same machine we use for removing conventional tattoos. Unfortunately, it is not possible to remove eyeliner or lip liner this way.
Can you correct an area instead of removing the entire brow?
Depending on your concern, we can treat small areas to correct your eyebrows, or we can treat the whole eyebrow.
How does laser Semi Permanent Makeup removal work?
The laser cracks the semi-permanent makeup pigment tattooed into the skin to create smaller pigment particles. The body then breaks down these smaller particles and removes them slowly over time.
How often will I need treatment?
We normally recommend a treatment every 6 -12 weeks. This depends on how quickly you want it to fade.
How many treatment sessions will I need?
Most people need between 3-6 treatments. This will depend on whether you want the pigment to fade or go completely.
What unwanted effects can happen?
The commonest unwanted reactions often seen after laser treatment of semi-permanent make-up are:
eyebrow hair reduction
a change in the colour of brow pigment
Approximately 10% of the eyebrow hairs can be destroyed due to the laser treatment. Although we move these hairs out of the way during the removal process to prevent this as much as possible. In most cases, these hairs grow back, but the outcome varies from person to person. Eyebrow hairs can also temporarily go paler, but you can tint these a week after the treatment.
The laser oxidises the pigment in the skin during treatment; when this occurs the pigmentation can change colour. Depending on the pigment, it can go darker in colour, or the colour can change to an orangey/rusty colour. Once the pigment is oxidised it can then be treated in subsequent treatment.
What will my brows look like after treatment?
You may see frosting and whitening of the pigment immediately after treatment, it is also common to see some pinpoint bleeding and some swelling. The reaction usually settles after 1-2 weeks.
How long after removal before I can have new Semi Permanent Makeup?
After laser treatment, we recommend you wait 8-12 weeks before commencing treatment.
Please ask us the exact time we recommend you wait as this will depend on many factors.
How soon after having my brows done can they be removed?
It is common for us to get an enquiry a day a or two after a brow treatment. This may be because the results are asymmetrical, poor shape, too dark, or just a poor result.
Given that brows are central and frame the face, even minor technical errors can be impactful, leading patients to seek rapid corrective treatment.
Unfortunatly we need to wait a minimum of 6–8 weeks after the original treatment before commencing laser removal.
Why is this delay necessary?
The epidermis must be fully restored to reduce the risk of blistering, scarring, and dyspigmentation.
Cosmetic pigments oxidise and settle over several weeks; treating too early can cause unpredictable colour shifts (e.g., red, orange, or yellow).
Swelling and erythema post treatment increases the risk of adverse effects.
Brows often appear darker for 7–14 days post-procedure; premature removal may be unnecessary.

Botulinum Toxin has been around since the 1980’s when it was first used for facial muscle spasms and crossed eyes (strabismus). Doctors have used Botulinum Toxin type A in medical practice ever since for treatment of muscle spasticity in conditions such as cerebral palsy, dystonia and facial spasms. It is also used to improve overactive bladders by Urologists, headaches such as migraines when areas in the upper part of the face are treated and also hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating).
In February 2006, a licence was given for the use of Botox for some cosmetic treatments. Since then it has been rebranded as Vistabel. Shortly after Galderma launched Azzalure in the UK. In 2010, Mertz licensed Bocouture for use in select cosmetic treatments in the UK. Botulinum Toxins have been used for cosmetic use to treat areas of the face within and off ‘licence’ safely for over 20 years.
Alluzience, manufactured by Galderma, was launched in the UK in June 2022. It has a quicker onset of action and can start working within 24 hours. Alluzience can also have a longer duration of action than other available toxin brands.
Nuceiva (Evolus) and Letybo (a Korean-developed toxin) were first available in the UK in 2022
Relfydess by Galderma was then available in 2024. This can also last slightly longer.
How does Botox work?
Botulinum Toxin Type A attaches to receptors on the muscle cells. This prevents the receptors from receiving signals from the nerve cells. The signal being Acetylcholine which causes the muscles to contract. The muscle, therefore can no longer move when the nerve sends the acetylcholine to the muscle cells. The action of Botulinum Toxin is never permanent and wears off after 3 to 4 months.
Facial lines are caused by the regular movement of the facial muscles. Expressions such as squinting and frowning on a regular basis cause lines and wrinkles to appear over time. Similar to when you wear a pair of leather shoes for a long time, the more movement that occurs, the more wear appears.
By reducing facial muscle movement, you can soften the visible lines and wrinkles.
Is Botox Safe?
Data shows treatments are safe. Some people worry that Botox may be dangerous; however, when administered in the correct manner by a skilled medical professional, it carries very little risk.
Botox has only a few short-term side effects. These include minimal bruising at the injection sites and minor headaches, which usually last only a short period of time.
Brands of Botulinum Toxin Type A
There are several brands of Botulinum Toxin available on prescription in the UK:
An impaired skin barrier can cause inflammation and redness. This can be caused by stress on the skin some as extreme heat or cold, or products applied to the skin, as well as skin conditions such as Dermatitis, Eczema, and Psoriasis. Sometimes the skin appears angry and inflamed; other times dry and flaky, but sometimes the barrier breakdown can be more subtle in appearance.
To improve redness in these situations, we need to repair the skin barrier first before addressing any remaining redness.

Inflamed skin can be treated with:
pHformula CR Treatments
pHformula’s CR home prescription treatments have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effects to improve chronically red skin.

For most people we find our Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments are the most effective treatments for removing facial veins.
At Cheshire Lasers, we mostly use our very effective Lumina AQS system made in Holmes Chapel by Lynton Lasers to remove thread veins. Is a very effective system that quickly removes veins that are too small for other removal techniques. The system has an IPL handpiece to remove small thread veins and red flushing and a laser handpiece for more stubborn larger veins.
Which Veins / Red lesions can Laser and IPL treat?
We can treat most red skin lesions on the face with our Lynton system, including thread/spider veins, rosacea, spider naevi, cherry angiomas and port-wine stains. We can also treat spider naevi and cherry angiomas anywhere on the body.
Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) are both light treatments. Lasers use a single, focused wavelength for precise targeting compared to IPL, which employs a broad spectrum of wavelengths, making it versatile for treating various red skin concerns.
The intense pulsed light system releases precisely controlled short pulses of filtered light that are absorbed by the blood cells, heating them to a point where they are destroyed. Following treatment, the vessels that contain them are also destroyed and reabsorbed by the body, leaving little or no trace of the original lesion.
Laser therapy for thread veins works by emitting concentrated beams of light that selectively target and heat the blood vessels, causing them to coagulate and collapse. Over time, the body naturally absorbs the collapsed vessels, gradually fading and reducing the appearance of thread veins.
Am I suitable for IPL Red Vein Treatment?
The fairer the skin, the easier the treatment.
Small solitary thread veins, spider naevi, and rosacea respond the best.
We can not recommend this treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. You are also not suitable if you are on medication that makes your skin sensitive in general ( e.g. steroids) or makes it sensitive to light.
If you have a suntan or a dark skin type, you are not suitable for this treatment, and we would recommend Advanced Electrocautery instead.
What does an IPL / Laser Red Vein Treatment involve?
You will be asked to put on goggles to protect your eyes.
Depending on the treatment, we may apply a layer of chilled gel on the area to guide the light into the skin. We target the laser or IPL handpiece on the skin needing treatment and releasing light energy. We then move the handpick and target the neighbouring area.
Our laser technician will then use our cryo machine to cool the area and apply a cooling gel.
How does the treatment feel?
Most patients describe the discomfort as uncomfortable but acceptable. Sensations vary, but most describe the discomfort as a very quick hot pin prick.
Is IPL Red Vein Treatment Safe?
After treatment, the area may go red and feel warm for a few hours. Sometimes delicate skin areas such as the cheeks or décolletage could be red and slightly swollen for up to 48 hours and sometimes small blisters may form. The vessels should fade quickly. Rarely the skin may become lighter or darker, or larger blisters may develop.
How long does each treatment take?
Treatments typically take from 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the type and size of the lesion.
How many treatments are necessary?
Most people need between 1-5 treatments. This depends on the severity of the problem and how well it responds to treatment.
Treatments should be 4 to 6 weeks apart.
How do I arrange a Vein Removal at Cheshire Lasers?
Before starting your treatment, you will need a consultation appointment and a patch test to ensure you are suitable for the procedure.
Our Level 4 NVQ laser and IPL technician will provide a full consultation. The consultation helps to identify your expectations and gives you a complete explanation of the treatment.
Our technician will take a medical history to confirm your suitability for treatment. They will go through a consent form with you if you wish to start treatment. They will discuss the treatment in detail and what you should and should not do to avoid side effects to achieve the best results. Our technician will give you some written information to remind you of all the important information.
They will then perform a test patch to assess how you react to the treatment on a small area.
Who performs the IPL and Laser Red Vein Removal treatments at Cheshire Lasers?
At Cheshire Lasers, our NVQ Level 4 IPL and Laser technician performs all our facial thread vein removal treatments.
Before and after images for the Removal of Facial Red / Thread Veins with Laser and IPL:

Cheshire Lasers is excited to now have the Ultraformer MF2 wrinkle treatment.
The sensitive and shallow regions around the eye, the mouth and the forehead can now be treated with ultrasound technology with ease due to the newly developed MF2 Ultraformer Treatment.
What can the MF2 Ultraformer Wrinkle Cartridge treat?
The great news is that we can improve fine lines and wrinkles with only one treatment. However, we recommend a course of around three treatments for best results. Different people respond differently and have different skin needs and starting points.
We have treated upper lips with the Ultraformer MF2 with considerable success so far. This is an excellent treatment for smokers lines and would suit someone who is afraid to have Dermal Fillers but wants improvement to the area with no downtime.
This treatment is also suitable for someone who has had fillers in that area already, and the lines are starting to come back, but they are not ready for more fillers.
The Perioral Area
The area in the image is treated to improve fine lines and wrinkles. This treatment improves the smoker’s lines and the cobblestone effect that can occur in this area due to age and sun damage.
The Under Eye Area
We have seen impressive results after treating the under-eye area with the Ultraformer MF2.
This area is challenging to improve; previous treatments often required many repeat sessions and provided only slight improvement, or were too invasive and required extended downtime.
MF2 treatment may require only three treatments, with no downtime.
You can also treat the crow’s feet and part of the upper eyelid with this treatment.
The treatment feels like warm pulses of ultrasound energy, which may feel uncomfortable for some people. The treatment around the mouth and perioral areas may make the teeth feel momentarily sensitive.
How many Ultraformer MF2 treatments will I need?
Some people will see a small improvement after one treatment but generally, we recommend a course of 3 treatments once a month. However, this depends on the severity of the condition and each client’s collagen stimulation response.
At Cheshire Lasers, we have found fine lines and wrinkles that have been there a few years have needed 2-3 treatments. Whereas lines that have been there many years have required at least 5 or 6 procedures.
Can I have the Ultraformer MF2 treatment if I have Botox or fillers?
The MF2 treatment is an alternative treatment to fillers; however, it can be used alongside a filler treatment to create even better results.
If a dermal filler is in the treatment area, we ask that you leave three months for the filler to integrate with the tissues before having an Ultraformer treatment. For Botox, the MF2 treatment can be performed in the same area 2 weeks after the injections.
How long will the Ultraformer MF2 results last for?
After the final treatment session, it will take 60-100 days for collagen to stimulate and for full results to become visible. The results can last up to 12 months. However, most people like to have a maintenance treatment every 2-4 months.
Are there any side effects to the Ultraformer MF2 treatment?
Common side effects after the treatment are redness and swelling. This normally reduces within a few hours, and you can go back to your regular daily activities straight away.
Bruising can occur, which is more likely around the eye area.
Am I suitable for an Ultraformer MF2 treatment?
We do not recommend the Ultraformer treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
If you have teeth implants in the treatment area or metal braces. However, Invisalign braces, veneers and fillings are all fine.
Prices for the Ultraformer MF2 Wrinkle Treatment:
Ultraformer MF2 treatments start from £100 for the under eyes or the upper lip, and £150 for the full eye area or the perioral area. Prices are per treatment.
Cheshire Lasers Clinic offers a wide range of PRP Treatments.
What is PRP?
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a non-surgical treatment that utilises your body’s healing abilities to stimulate skin healing, repair and recovery. It has the power to trigger your body’s own tissue regeneration potential. It is a natural treatment that uses the platelets from your blood. When activated, platelets secrete and release at least 7 different growth factors, which enhance the natural healing processes. They also stimulate collagen production to rejuvenate the skin, improve blood supply to tissues, and greatly improve skin tone and texture. It also reduces fine lines and wrinkles and can stimulate hair growth in the hair follicles.
PRP has been thoroughly investigated, and it is used for medical treatments. Doctors use PRP for nerve injury, tendinitis, osteoarthritis, cardiac muscle injury, bone repair and regeneration, plastic surgery and oral surgery. PRP also helps treat sports injuries in professional athletes to stimulate healing for skin wounds and burns.
What does PRP treatment involve?
This innovative technique involves centrifuging a small blood sample to separate it into components. Your practitioner will extract the PRP component from the sample and prepare it for injection.
Using a small sterile needle, your practitioner will inject the PRP into the treatment area.
Topical PRP can be combined with microneedling. This creates many tiny channels in the skin from microneedling, allowing the PRP to penetrate the tissues.
What types of PRP treatments are available?
At Cheshire Lasers, we use PRP on the face, neck, scalp, hands and other body areas for skin rejuvenation with sometimes astonishing results.
Treatment of the face with PRP has been called the “vampire facial” or “Dracula facial” on various reality TV shows, such as Cheshire Housewives. Celebrities such as Kim Kardashian have had this treatment to rejuvenate their skin.
PRP- Face, hands, décolletage, scarring & skin
Skin becomes plump, brighter and rejuvenated; fine lines and wrinkles reduce. The skin’s hydration and contours improve to create a youthful, radiant bloom.
It successfully reduces crow’s feet and wrinkles around the lips, nose and mouth. It is popular for the tear trough area, giving a more natural appearance.
PRP for Hair Loss
The high concentration of growth factors in PRP will strengthen hair follicles and help address hair loss & thinning hair. For hair loss we recommend six treatments over 12 months. One every month for three months and then one every three months for nine months.
How many PRP treatments will I need?
A monthly course of treatment gives the best results. The number of treatments you require depends on the problem. Often, you will need at least three treatments.
What are the benefits of PRP:
No surgery/ no anaesthetic
Completely safe and natural – no synthetic substances/no danger of allergic reactions or infections
Walk-in Walk-out procedure – minimal disruption to your day
Virtually painless, plus fast results and fast recovery
How much does PRP cost at Cheshire Lasers?
PRP treatments cost £500 per session

Sculptra launched in the UK in the year 2000, stimulates the growth of new collagen. It is used more as a sculpting and volumising agent for larger areas rather than a wrinkle filler. The product itself is not permanent, but the effects can be long-lasting.
Dr Teri trained in Sculptra in 2008, and it has been one of her favourite treatments over the last decade.
Profhilo launched in 2016; is the first stabilised hyaluronic acid (HA) based product manufactured without the use of chemical cross-linking agents (BDDE).
