Obagi Blue Peel Radiance

Blue Peel Radiance

What is Blue Peel RADIANCE?

Blue Peel RADIANCE is an addition to the Obagi medical range. It contains a unique blend of Salicylic, Glycolic and Lactic acid to provide a gentle but effective peel, resulting in tighter, smoother, brighter-looking

skin immediately after just one use. Salicylic acid-based peels are used to improve patient outcomes for a range of skin conditions, including acne, photodamage and melasma. Blue Peel RADIANCE effectively exfoliates the uppermost damaged skin layers, leaving your skin fresh, renewed and radiant. The Radiance Peel is 2.7ph and 20% Salicylic with a blend of 2% Lactic acid and 2% Glycolic acid.

What results can I expect?

Obagi Blue Peel RADIANCE can improve your skins look, texture, and feel in a matter of minutes. Superficial exfoliation, with little to no downtime. Provides instant radiance, tighter, smoother, brighter-looking skin after just 1 treatment although a series of 4 to 6 peels provides best overall results. It is particularly effective, in the treatment of photodamage, and results in an overall improvement in the texture and tone. It may also be beneficial in the treatment of darker skin pigmentary changes.

How do I book the Obagi Blue Peel Radiance?

The peel is carried out by Anna, our aesthetician, and by Dr Kathryn Hazlehurst at Cheshire Lasers in Middlewich. Book a consultation first with your preferred practitioner.

With Anna. Anna’s consultation appointments are not available to book online, so please ring the clinic on 01606 841255 or contact us and we will arrange it for you. The consultation costs £25 and is taken off the price of your first treatment.

With Dr Hazlehurst. Her consultation costs £50 and is taken off the price of your first treatment with her. The peel is then booked as a separate appointment. Her prices and booking are on her page.

Sometimes it’s included in our special offers — so it’s worth checking this month’s offers.

What does the Blue Peel Radiance Procedure Involve?

A test application of the peel solution must be applied on a small area of the skin at a consultation before arranging to have a treatment.

At the procedure, the skin will be thoroughly cleansed. The lips and corners of the eyes and nose are then covered with a small amount of petroleum jelly to protect the sensitive areas. A piece of gauzes then placed over each eye if required.

The Blue Peel Radiance Prep Solution is then applied to clean, dry skin, and the skin is left to dry completely.

The first layer of Blue Peel Radiance is applied in order to achieve even results. You may experience mild tingling for the duration of the application. This is normal. For a very light peel, only 1 layer of product is applied. For incremental desquamation of the stratum corneum, up to 2 layers are applied. If, after waiting 30-60 seconds, the skin has tolerated the first layer, a second application is applied in the same pattern. If significant reactions (strong burning or stinging, significant discomfort, erythema) arise and do not subside after 3-5 minutes, a second layer of the peel is not applied.

The peel remains on the skin for up to 10-12 minutes after application of the first layer. The peel is then removed by applying Nu-Derm Gentle Cleanser with a sponge or gauze and then rinsing with water.

A non-chemical sunscreen is then applied to the patient’s skin.

How do I prepare my skin prior to the peel?

Patients should avoid the use of the following products and procedures on the area to be treated for 5-7 days prior to the peel:

Laser Hair Removal
Waxing or depilatory creams
Electrolysis
Microdermabrasion

Certain products may increase skin sensitivity and/or cause a stronger reaction to the peel, avoid the use of the following products for the 3 days prior to the peel:
Topical retinoids and tretinoin (including Retin-A, Renova, Differin, Tazorac, Refissa)
Other topical acids or exfoliants that may be drying or irritating to the skin (such as alpha hydroxyl acids [AHAs], beta hydroxyl acids [BHAs], exfoliating masks, retinol, benzoyl peroxide)

CAUTION: Patients who have recently had any medical aesthetic facial treatments or procedures (laser, microdermabrasion, etc) should wait until all sensitivity has subsided.

How do I care for my skin post-peel?

Mild peeling and redness is normal.
Our Obagi Ambassador will advise you when to return to your normal skincare regime (usually 5-7 days after application of Blue Peel RADIANCE)

Use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 at all times, especially for the week post-peel and avoid direct sun exposure.

Treat the skin gently
Do NOT exfoliate or pick at peeling skin
Do NOT wax or use any form of hair removal during the peeling stage
Avoid AHAs & BHAs, retinoids, facial products containing fragrance for 1-week post peel

We recommend
Sunshield SPF50
Hydrate or Hydrate Luxe to moisturise the skin.

Common contraindications include:

Active cold sores, herpes simplex or warts in the area
Wounded, sunburned or excessively sensitive skin with the application area
Currently pregnant or breastfeeding
Dermatitis or inflammatory rosacea within the peel area
Roaccutane use within 6-12 months prior the peel application
History of radiation therapy in the application area
Allergy to salicylates

What side effect may I experience with the Blue Peel Radiance?

Common side effects include:
Transient Burning
Irritation
Erythema

Very Rare side effects include:
Scarring
Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH)
Infection

How often should I have a Peel?

For best results, Cheshire Lasers usually recommends a Blue Peel Radiance every 2-4 weeks for  4-6 peels.

If I use Nu-Derm, can I still have the peel?

Not in the first six weeks (Reactive Phase).

After this, you can have a peel, but you must stop using Exfoderm, Tretinoin/Blend 3 days prior.

If I use CR-x, can I have the peel?

Yes, but stop the use of Exfoliating day lotion three days before the peel due to the Glycolic and Lactic acid content.

What if I am using the CLENZIderm M.D System?

You can have a Blue Peel RADIANCE peel when using CLENZIderm.

Simply stop the use of “active” products 3 days prior to the peel. This includes all 3 products in the system. The normal protocol can resume 48 hours after application if your skin can tolerate it.

pHformula Pre and Post Treatment Advice

pHformula

Do I need to prepare my skin?

We recommend for the best results you prepare your skin with pHformula homecare products for two weeks before your first treatment. This will enhance your overall results and allows you to get used to the products in the stronger resurfacing serums.

We will then start you on a skin resurfacing homecare kit that contains the fundamental products to optimise your results in further treatments and also maintain the best possible results during the treatment programme.

Whichever approach you prefer we still recommend a full consultation prior to treatment to make sure that you do not have any medical conditions that will affect the treatment. We can arrange this over the phone, by video or face to face.

The number of treatments required varies significantly for different concerns and different areas. Some people benefit from only a few treatments for long-term improvements, and others need regular maintenance.

We do not sell packages with a large number of courses as they may not be necessary and are then wasted. We do, however, offer half-price maintenance treatments once you have completed more than nine treatments on an area, as long as you have had a treatment or a patch test with us within the last six months. A patch test on its own is £25.

During your consultation, we will discuss what can be achieved and the possible outcomes.

Thread Vein Treatments

At Cheshire Lasers, we provide thread vein removal treatments for the tiny veins found on the face and legs.

These red veins are also called thread veins or spider veins. They are the tiny visible veins that can be red, purple, or blue and have a web-like appearance. Their web-like appearance is what inspired the name ‘spider veins’.

facial thread vein removal Cheshire

Are spider veins and thread veins the same thing?

Yes. Spider veins, thread veins, red veins and broken capillaries are all names for the same thing — the tiny surface veins that show through the skin, most often on the cheeks, nose and legs. Whichever name you have been given, the treatments described on this page are the ones we use.

What is the best Thread Vein Removal Treatment for Facial Thread Veins?

1. Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments

Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments are among the most effective for removing facial veins. The treatment involves directing light at the veins from outside the skin; this light damages the veins, stimulating the body to remove them.

These treatments also reduce redness on the face around the vein. They also treat spider naevi and cherry angiomas located anywhere on the body, provided they are flat. Raised ones do not respond well to light treatment and are better removed with electrocautery.

At Cheshire Lasers, our NVQ Level 4 IPL and Laser technician performs all our Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) facial thread vein removal treatments.

Laser and IPL treatments require no sun exposure or suntan for at least 4 weeks before and after each treatment. If you can not avoid a suntan you may want to consider electrocautery for thread veins.

laser thread vein hair removal Cheshire

Find out more about laser / IPL facial red vein removal here.

Laser and IPL treatment for facial thread veins starts from £60 for a single thread vein, and £100 for an area such as the full nose or chin. Prices are per treatment, and two to five treatments are usually needed. A consultation and patch test costs £30.

View our prices for laser and IPL facial red thread vein removal here.

2. Electrocautery

Advanced electrocautery is also a very effective treatment for removing thread veins. It involves inserting a very fine needle into the thread veins and applying a tiny amount of electric current. The needle destroys all the tissue it touches, and the body then heals and repairs the area. Advanced electrocautery is performed by Dr Kathryn Hazlehurst

Electrocautery for facial thread veins is £140 for one small patch with Dr Kathryn Hazlehurst. Her consultation is £50, which is taken off the price of your first treatment.

Dr Hazlehurst’s prices for advanced electrocautery thread vein removal here.

What is the best Thread Vein Removal Treatment for Leg Thread veins?

Sclerotherapy is the gold standard treatment for leg veins. This is an injectable treatment that can treat the entire vein. Studies show that sclerotherapy is more effective and yields longer-lasting results than laser or IPL for treating leg thread veins.

At Cheshire Lasers, Dr Hazlehurst performs Sclerotherapy thread vein removal.

leg thread vein removal Cheshire

Microsclerotherapy for leg thread veins is £300 per treatment with Dr Kathryn Hazlehurst, and a course of three is often needed. The initial consultation is £50 to assess the veins and measure for compression stockings, and is redeemable against your first treatment.

You can find out more about sclerotherapy thread vein removal at Cheshire Lasers here.

Why is Sclerotherapy better for Leg thread vein removal?

Leg thread veins can occur due to ageing, sun exposure and trauma to the skin. However, they also develop due to backwards blood flow from larger veins when the valves are no longer functioning properly. If these underlying faulty veins are untreated, they will cause more reflux in the healthier veins causing them to dilate and cause more unsightly thread veins.

The light used to treat the veins with laser and IPL can only treat the veins close to the skin surface. Treating these superficial thread veins in the skin without treating the deeper incompetent veins can cause spider vein treatment to fail.

Sclerotherapy can address some of these deeper thread veins as well.

Do you treat Varicose Veins?

Cheshire Lasers does not provide varicose vein treatments. Varicose veins are much more complex to treat and a vascular surgeon is the best person to treat them.

Several of our clients have highly recommended the Vein Centre which is a specialist centre that treats only veins. They have two clinics close to Cheshire, one in Manchester and the other in Stoke on Trent. The Vein Centre’s website explains which treatments are available for varicose veins and how they work.

Varicose veins treatments available include:

Polynucleotides — Nucleofill, Plenhyage and Plinest

Polynucleotides treatments like Plenhyage, Plinest & Nucleofill

Polynucleotide (PN) skin rejuvenation treatments have gained significant attention in aesthetic medicine. They involve a revolutionary, non-invasive procedure for enhancing skin texture and appearance. Based on utilising biological substances to stimulate tissue regeneration, PN treatments have emerged as a promising solution for individuals seeking to revitalise their skin without resorting to more invasive procedures.

What are Polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides are the building blocks of DNA molecules. They have been used since the 1950s for burn and wound healing and are known to possess bioactive properties that can aid in repairing and rejuvenating damaged skin.

They have been created synthetically or can be from animal origin. The most common products available for skin rejuvenation are extracted from salmon or trout sperm.  The DNA is purified so that patients with fish allergies are still suitable for treatment.

Nucleofill and Plenhyage are created from Salmon DNA fragments, and Plinest is made from Trout DNA fragments.

How do Polynucleotides work?

When injected into the dermal layer of the skin, the PN DNA fragments act as signalling agents that stimulate fibroblasts and trigger the body’s natural regenerative processes, promoting cellular regeneration. This results in collagen and elastin synthesis and the production of essential structural proteins and hyaluronic acid, which improve hydration and moisture retention, restoring youthful skin characteristics.

As a result, patients may observe a reduction in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. They also can create a healthier complexion and reduce the visibility of skin imperfections such as pigmentation irregularities and scars.

The gradual and cumulative effects of polynucleotide skin rejuvenation treatments make them a preferred option for individuals seeking gradual but noticeable improvements in their skin quality.

How long do the results of Polynucleotides last?

The results of PN treatments may generally last several months to a year. The average response lasts for six to nine months.

The duration of the effects of PN Treatments varies depending on the specific type of PN used, individual response to the treatment, and the initial condition of the skin. The longevity of their effects also depends on the body’s natural ageing process and environmental factors.

Which areas can Polynucleotides Treat?

PNs can revitalise the skin on all areas of the face and body.

  • Face: To improve facial skin’s texture, tone, and elasticity. They can help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and other signs of ageing, resulting in a more youthful and radiant complexion.
  • Neck and décolletage: The delicate skin on the neck and décolletage can also benefit from PN treatments, helping to tighten and firm the skin in these areas and reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
  • Hands: PN therapy can be used to rejuvenate the skin on the hands, minimising the visible signs of ageing, such as thinning skin, wrinkles, and age spots, thereby improving the overall texture and appearance of the hands.
  • Body: PN treatments can also be applied to various areas of the body, such as the arms, abdomen, and thighs, to promote skin regeneration, improve elasticity, and reduce the appearance of cellulite and stretch marks.
  • Scalp: In recent years, PN treatments have gained attention for their potential to promote hair growth and improve scalp health. When administered to the scalp, PN therapy can help strengthen hair follicles and stimulate hair growth, contributing to thicker and healthier-looking hair.

How many Treatments will I need?

Most people require three treatment sessions in total.

We recommend one session (2ml) every 14- 21 days.

Contraindications to Polynucleotide Treatment

  • Pregnancy
  • Breast Feeding
  • Active skin infections

Patients with the following conditions can sometimes be treated with caution:

  • Blood Thinning Medication
  • Autoimmune conditions

What side effects can I expect after a PolyNucleotide Skin Rejuvenation Treatment?

During treatment, you will experience pin-prick bleeding and sometimes itchiness.

For several days, you can expect the following in the treatment area:

  • redness
  • slight swelling
  • Bruising

Occasionally, the bruising and swelling can last longer.

After Care

  • Avoid touching the treated area for at least 12 hours
  • Avoid Makeup for 24hrs
  • Avoid direct sun exposure
  • SPF to protect the area and prevent further skin ageing.
  • No facial treatments for two weeks

Who Performs Polynucleotide Treatments at Cheshire Lasers?

The following doctors perform Polynucleotide treatments at Cheshire Lasers:

In Conclusion

Polynucleotide skin rejuvenation treatments represent a breakthrough in the field of aesthetic medicine, offering a safe and effective solution for individuals looking to revitalise their skin’s youthful characteristics. By harnessing the regenerative potential of PN molecules, these treatments stimulate collagen synthesis, enhance skin hydration, and promote overall skin health, leading to a more radiant and youthful complexion. As the field of aesthetic medicine continues to evolve, polynucleotide skin rejuvenation is poised to remain a prominent player in the quest for achieving natural and long-lasting skin rejuvenation.

View our pHformula facial prices here.

pHformula facials are carried out by our aestheticians at our clinic in Middlewich.

How do I book a pHformula Facial?

You can book some facials directly online. These include the Radiance Boost Facial, the Anti-Ageing Facial and the SOS Hydrating Facial.

For the other facials, it is usually best to have a consultation first so we can assess your skin and advise you on what we recommend. You can either opt for a skin assessment and introductory facial, or a skin assessment consultation.

Your first appointment — the pHformula skin assessment, sensitivity test and introductory facial, £50.
Some of the active ingredients need to be tested on your skin before we can use them, so the treatment on this first visit is shorter than a full pHformula facial. The facial itself takes 35 to 40 minutes, and the appointment takes about an hour once the assessment and sensitivity test are included. Once we know how your skin responds, later appointments are the full treatment.

pHformula Oily and Congested Treatments

pHformula

What is the pHformula Oily and Congested Treatment?

The pHformula Oily and Congested Treatment is a powerful yet gentle treatment for oily and congested skin types. This treatment provides exfoliation while maintaining the skin’s moisture barrier. It is an antibacterial, anti-inflammatory treatment that decongests the skin and regulates oil production while still providing hydration.
This treatment can also brighten the skin and address ageing concerns.

What does the pHformula Oily and Congested Treatment Involve?

oily and congested resurfacing treatment

Because oily, congested skin is prone to reactions and further breakouts, we start with a consultation to create a bespoke treatment plan for your skin.

A course of treatments is required for the best results. We often recommend starting with a facial-level treatment and slowly increasing to resurfacing treatments, depending on your skin sensitivity. For some people, we prioritise reducing breakouts and calming the skin, while for others we move on to stronger resurfacing ingredients to optimise cell renewal and rejuvenation.

At Cheshire Lasers, the treatment itself involves the following steps:

STEP 1:

Cleanse the skin using E.X.F.O. cleanse.

E.X.F.O. cleanse contains active ingredients which assist in loosening rough dead skin cells while being hydrating and anti-inflammatory.

STEP 2:

Degrease the skin using S.K.I.N. primer.

This helps cleanse and degrease the skin to ensure optimal penetration of active ingredients.

STEP 3 (OPTIONAL extra):

25-minute DERMALUX treatment.
DERMALUX uses colour wavelengths of visible light to stimulate skin cells to repair and rejuvenate, and to neutralise bacteria. Dermalux uses red light, blue light and infrared light. Blue light, in particular, can have a powerful effect on oily and congested skin, helping to kill bacteria, reduce acne, shrink pores and fight infection.

STEP 4:

SP Complex / A.C Resurfacer
This gentle resurfacing complex exfoliates the skin and prepares it for further treatments by opening the cellular delivery channels. This allows better penetration of the active ingredients in the next steps and helps activate the skin’s regeneration response. Here, we assess your skin sensitivity on a scale of 1-10, should you wish to move on to one of the stronger pHformula treatments next time.
When we apply the complex, you may feel a mild stinging sensation.

STEP 5:

Mask or Resurfacing treatment.

A mask is chosen to suit your skin concerns and sensitivity and whether you would like a facial or a resurfacing treatment. A popular treatment we may use here is the I.N.S.T.A.N.T. Resurfacing Mask, which leaves the skin radiant and glowing. Salicylic acid assists in superficial exfoliation and cell renewal. It provides tighter pores and skin texture. Impurities are absorbed without removing natural oils. Ferulic acid and Vitamin E provide an antioxidant effect to brighten discoloured skin. It also aids the skin’s ability to heal, repair, and protect itself from environmental damage. The mask is left on for up to 15 minutes.

STEP 6:

Remove the Mask and Perform the Extraction Treatment.

Once again, we use E.X.F.O. cleanse to remove the mask and help with extractions for up to 5 minutes.

STEP 7:

Radiance Boost Treatment.

Radiance Boost contains a complex of pure L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C), Retinol, and Hyaluronic acid. It also contains the pHformula special delivery complex, which enhances ingredient penetration into deeper layers of the skin. This ensures the treatment is at optimum potency to achieve the best results.

How do I book a pHformula Oily and Congested Treatment?

Oily and congested skin is more complicated than most, so our aestheticians at Cheshire Lasers in Middlewich always start with a consultation first. You can do this in two ways.

The pHformula skin assessment, sensitivity test and introductory facial, £50. We discuss your skin, perform a sensitivity test, and do a gentle exfoliating facial to determine your future skin needs for further facial or more advanced resurfacing treatments.

Book a Skin Assessment and Introductory Facial

Or a Skin Assessment Consultation, £25, which we take off the cost of your treatment.
